red_pad, I stayed at the Park Central last April and have just booked to go back this Christmas. For us it was ideal, nice clean rooms (refurbed not too long ago) and friendly reception team with a subway stop right on the doorstep. Good place to base yourself and they even have a small gym if you want to get in some last minute prep (or to get the flight out of your system)
Would gladly recommend the hotel to anyone, plus they seem to be putting out some good deals at the moment.0 -
Hi.
I have a hotel booked-holiday inn hasbrouk heights, but have since realised this is on a motorway and have decided to just stay in manhattan. I will lose 178.00 of the 654.00 I paid for the room, but waying this against the Inconvinience and extra costs in cabs and time ect I've accepted this, lol.Anyway, my dilema.I got a great deal on the millenium plaza. The problem is there will be 4 of us and in my guide book it says that the twin beds can easily take two kids. So that would leave a spare bed and hopefully i could request a rollaway. But, on some sites the rooms can only take 3.Would I really be expected to get 2 rooms for the extra child(we are adult 3 kids)? I woukld rather not do this as we will only be sleeping in them and not laying around in them during the day and 2 days we will be at hershey world anyway(but still keeping the room, as oppossed to carting luggage all over the place).
I have emailed the hotel but have had no reply yet. Has anyone done anything like this or had the same situation and what was the outcome.Just so I know whether to keep hunting for those deals.
Also how far away from times sq. Is the un millenium plaza-as I don't want to be too close to there at all.:A Your Always in my heart, you never ever will be forgotten-9/9/14:heart2:0 -
UN Millenium Plaza is on the east side of manhattan. It is a fair distance from Times Square, as there is no subway that goes that far east. (crosstown subways are more difficult to get than up/downtown). You are approximately 1 mile away. However, there isn't much in times square bar flashing lights, and chain restaurants, so you're not missing much. 3 Blocks West from the hotel (about a 10-15 minute walk, you have Grand Central station, so you have got a subway station nearby)
As for the room, most NYC hotels don't do rollaways, and will have a maximum occupancy, so it may be 3 as a maximum occupancy, and you'd be breaking the law if you put 4 people in the room.
Worst case scenario. You go to check in at the hotel, they refuse are you're over the room capacity, and then you have to pay for a room at the full rack rate.
What price did you get? have you looked at the rooms at the Cosmopolitan, who offer rooms with 2 double beds in, and are currently on offer for stays before 1st September (https://www.hotelconxions.com)
I personally wouldn't risk ruining your holiday, because you want to over occupy a room and break NYC Law.

Thanks Mark.Back to the drawing board-the rate was $159per night-travelzoo.The kids keep harping on about a pool, hence me looking into jersey in the first place. But,if were hardly in the hotel, they'll hardly be in the hotel pool, lol i'll defo check out the cosmo-provided you can assure me it's nowhere near that dreaded sq.;)We stayed in radio city apartments 2 years ago, the location was a nightmare, lol:A Your Always in my heart, you never ever will be forgotten-9/9/14:heart2:0

No, not at all.. I avoid anywhere near TS, and the cosmo is in TriBeCa, so a much nicer area than midtown... You didn't tell me dates, but for a room with 2 beds in, before 1st September, you should be able to get a room for $149 before tax and if you stay more than 3 days, hotelconxions do instant rebates, which means they knock even more off the price.
I've stayed at the Cosmo many times, so can wholeheartedly recommend it.

There is an interesting anamoly with BA's new business class LCY-JFK service.
It allows ticketing with BA's Heathrow flights, nothing strange in that you may say, but it allows ticketing with economy class flights, so you could do this
Outbound - Friday 4 Dec, 200911:00
4 Dec13:40
4 DecHeathrow (London)John F Kennedy (New York)BA0175
British Airways World Traveller
Inbound - Monday 7 Dec, 200922:10
7 Dec10:45
8 DecJohn F Kennedy (New York)City Airport (London)BA0004
British Airways Club World
£ 1,173.60
So that is out bound in economy from Heathrow and back to London City in Club class, for those who want to treat themselves and want to return to LCY.
Also allows one way in Premium Economy from Heathrow.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0 -
Huh sorry I am stupid - explain clearly please0

Just highlighting that BA will be starting a BA Business Class only service from London City Airport to JFK http://www.britishairways.com/travel/club-world-london-city/public/en_gb?openxzoneid=5&openxcampaign=project-fisher&openxbanner=fisher-single-flash&openxtype=click
and that these flights are combinable, subject to being available, with BA's economy and premium economy flights form Heathrow, just select London (all airports) at https://www.ba.comPosts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0 -
traveller, how old are the children? Sorry if you've said and I've missed it.
We stayed at the Cosmo last summer: 3 teenage boys in one room, taking it in turns to share a bed. :-)Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
Hi, mark our dates are 13th-22nd august.
Savvy Sue- the kids are 16,12 and 10. My other dilema Is that we need to be at the port authority for our greyhound to harrisburg for our 2 day stint at hershey world. So I'm not sure whether It's best to stay midtown, but not times sq. or just go further afield and hope the trains get us to midtown on time.
I really need to get this sorted as travel republic say i've got till 4pm on 1st july to lose only 25%. After that it's 50%
Right , off to look at the cosmo.:T:A Your Always in my heart, you never ever will be forgotten-9/9/14:heart2:0
