why cab it to TS? just jump on the F/V 34th St, and then on the N/R/W/Q to Times Square.
Personally, I'd stay down in the East Village, it'll be much more condusive the relaxing after the marathon than the hustle of midtown

Paddy - I did London Mara in April and flew to NY the day after so I was still stiff when trying to sightsee - but I found actually that hobbling around helped massively (just try to avoid too many steps if you can) and by the second day I was ready to go for a small run to ease off the muscles...
Also in London I had to walk 4 miles back to my house even though its less than a mile from the finish due to diversions - just take it slowly to start with but you'll be amazed how good you feel after about 1/2 an hour after finishing
my friends have done NY marathon - they live there and they say it is amazing - good luck!!0 -
The one thing I will say though - get a room with a bath if you can - if you get really stiff (for example if you hit the wall) you'll find it amazing to sit in a bath for an hour or two the morning after...0

ive been a few times and have flown into JFK and Newark, from my experience i prefer newark as it always seems to be quicker into NYC as there is less traffic.0

I've flown into both newark and JFK and they are both fine , I just pick the one that is nearest to where i will be staying.0

I can see your point Mark and I will be aiming to relax for a few days but I'm also going for a holiday and as such would probably prefer to be in the hustle and bustle of midtown. Most of the things we want to see and do are in the area and my GF is a biiiiiiig shopper so being able to drop bags off easily is a plus:rolleyes:
Becky, thanks. I'll make sure I get a bath although I'm 6ft 4" so getting comfortable may be a struggle;) My plan is to eat eat eat in the days afterwards. I'm gonna go here http://churrascariaplataforma.com/ on the Sunday evening:D:D:D:D:D:D
Just got back from a 10miler, gonna need to lose some timber by November_pale_0 -

Wow, if I ran a marathon, thats where I would head, that place looks fantastic.0 -
do you mean - On The Ave Hotel?
if so, they offer high speed broadband for $12.95 a day.. *dies with shock*
I know that some of the parks downtown offer free wifi, but that's right at the other end of the island to where that hotel is.
I know there are plenty of hotels that offer it for free too, it's just a shame that your hotel wants to charge you money for it..

As markymoo has mentioned there is free wifi in the down town area: http://www.downtownny.com/discover/wifi/ I might come in handy.0 -

There are 3 airports, 2 that serve international flights.
this is all explained in the getting into and around manhattan thread, linked from page one.
If you're flying from DUB, you do your immigration in DUB, so it's quicker when you arrive at NYC.
it makes no difference really which airport you fly to, but where your hotel is, might determine which is easier.
