this is the thing with new york.. you have every cuisine imaginable on the island of manhattan, and lots of places deliver.

Failing that, you have deli's on virtually every corner, where you can get sandwiches, rolls, salads, the most amazing soups, noodles etc..

pizza is a stable diet in NYC, and again, plenty of places where you can get a slice, or a pie..

People who live in NYC eat out more than they eat in, as it is a) the same cost, and b) their kitchens ain't big enough..

i'd seriously think about considering dropping the idea of "cooking at home" while in NYC, because if people who live there don't.. why bother even attempting to cook something..

support the local businesses in this tough economic climate, try new foods, and you can eat very very healthily...

Think everyone has different needs and wants though. Just because lots of people only eat out there doesn't mean it suits everyone.

    Horses for courses and all.

on a completely random note, i've been messing around designing my personal website over the past god knows how long, but I've finally got one that i'm reasonably happy with, and part of the site is my photos, and i've got a reasonable selection of NYC ones too..

I know in the past people have posted random photos to the thread, but i'm not going to do that, and i'll let you click through to this link and have a look at some nice NYC sights.

Please don't look at the rest of the website, as it is NOWHERE near finished, and if you do, you'll get errors, or lots of lipsum text, so there is no need, the only thing that is working right now (and by no means finished) is the photo galleries..

I have to agree with this - I offerred to cook for my friend once while I was staying at his earlier in the year and was told - well you cant, I dont have any pans or kitchen stuff :eek::eek:

Trust me healthy food is everywhere and loads of places do take out and delivery so you never ever need to cook in NY, in fact I cant think why you would want to - even the local supermarket sells ready cooked food and loads of salads :D

the Times Square ones were taken mainly when i was with my sister.. it was about -2 degrees, bitterly cold, so we got out of the subway, took the photos in about 10 minutes, and then left straight away, to warm up....

i really don't like TS, the only thing about it, is that it makes a great photo op!

Does anyone know of any alternative tour companies that do a tour of The Sopranos sites other than screentours at all?

Unfortunately we're in NY Monday-Friday so aren't there over weekend when the screamtours run.

    Cheers
  • We were told - at the end of our stay - that we didn't HAVE to pay for the children (then 10 years old). They just duck under the barrier. On our first trip - wish I'd seen your info first - we went to the counter to get our ticket and the lady charged all 4 of us for rides. Haven't validated this info, but it was a metro employee that told us.

Up to three children 44 inches tall and under ride for free on subways and local buses when accompanied by a fare paying adult.

Personally, I think discussion should be kept to the NYC Thread Stickied at the top of the board, rather than this guide..
