I always seem to miss the deals! Just my bloody luck
The problem is my dates are not at all flexible.
17th September - 20th September.
Which obviously throws in a Friday and Saturday night.
I've never used them, but a lot of Americans seem to use Priceline to get the Sheraton Towers for approx $110 a night. If you are happy to go with them I would think it is easy to bid for this hotel at this price - may not be the best hotel but for the price it seems ok. We were going to use it for our latest trip but wanted to look into priceline more so may use it next time.0 -

Fancy a quick pint on the 17th? i'm checking out of the cosmo that day...
$189 a night before tax, which is $215 ish a night including taxes... i've got the same, price for my room too...
I wouldn't stay at the sheraton towers in NYC, as i really don't like the location, bang in the middle of touristhell square.. sorry.. times square, with very little in the way of decent restaurants.. some good bars on 9th ave, in hells kitchen, but tribeca is so much nicer...0 -
We were in New York in December, had a great time and went on The Sopranos tour. Went to the HBO shop where they sell all the Sopranos t-shirts, hats etc. and it was there we were given a discount code for booking tickets for the tour along with a leaflet, so it is cheaper to buy your tickets there. You will really enjoy it. We stayed in the Radio City Aparments and it was only a 5 minute walk to catch the Sopranos tour bus.0

Hello All
I've been looking to book tickets to NY from LHR. Our dates are specific (23/10/09 - 30/10/09) and I've been told that Virgin are the best to book with if you have kids?!? Can anyone confirm this? Our eldest (12) is fine ... it's our youngest (5) that may have "issues"Price I was given was just over £1.5k for four of us, 2 adults and 2 kids (non-stop).
I would also appreciate advice on which area would be most suitable to stay in with kids whilst still being central. We want to rent an apartment as we prefer the freedom you get with coming/going, eating etc Has anyone got any recommendations of good sites for NY holiday rentals?
TIAI can say whatever I like here ... 'cos no one can see me .. ner ner ner ner ner !!!....How do you know I ain't sitting here butt naked?!?!I thunk I've made you think for a minute!:j :rotfl: :j0 -
99.9% of NYC Apartment Vacation Rentals are illegal.
The only ones that I can think of that are not illegal, would be the Radio City Hall Apartments.
As for flights, I can find £1364 for 4 people travelling, direct with American Airlines / Virgin / British Airways
Out of those three, American have the best flight times.
The absolute cheapest flight i can find is 1224 for all 4 people, and that's US Airways, changing at PHL
Don't even think about booking an apartment rental, as it may not exist, and you arrive in NYC, to find that you have nowhere to stay, or you're staying somewhere illegal..
I don't know what you mean about "the freedom you get with coming/going, eating etc" as hotels in NYC are usually Room Only, and the front desk staff really don't mind what you are doing, etc etc...

Would love a pint!
Only one condition, as much as Americans love to think they can brew beer they can't. And i don't fall for that Heineken (Brewed in Michigan) crap. It has to be a fine European Import0 -

Thanks for the reply about the tour.
Could you explain where the HBO shop is and how much your tickets cost?
I can get them through Expedia for £25 but I'm still hoping to save some more pennies for all the other NY goodies (Tiffany's).
Thanks!

Mudville 9, which is directly opposite the hotel does around 99 different beers, at least 12 or so on tap, which admittedly most are US Ale Microbrews, (and some are quite good!), along with plenty of bottled beer, including the organic Samuel Smith Range!!!
Another good place to go to for a selection of beers is the Village Pourhouse, and I know plenty of other places that do a huge selection...
can you tell i like my beer?!0 -
