just follow your nose when youre there there a lots of good boozers and bars within a short block in tribeca get in there and get into the local scene because internet are often based on last years or often later info and things move quickly in the music and nightlife. But what i can recommend for sure and i am a great fan of this place (not really for you indie and dance) is B.B Kings Blues Bar . Even if you think your not a great fan of BB or Blues music the people that go there are with a passion and the super cool atmosphere here is second to the appolo and much much safer . On 17th june is Gary U.S Bonds not a household name over here but one LEGEND of the highest order in American music scene over years . Supported by Ben E King and Darlene Love this is one serious night and if your lucky enough to be in NYC (or anywhere in the western hemisphere its worth trying to get a ticket ) message to self. -Going in October and Al Green is on so make dates match. Message to others- Oleta Adams (get here if you can. is on tomorrow) message to BB king- Free advert every month from me any chance of me singing with you on stage please an maybe a little pick of lucille please.
heres darlene love on letterman singing my favorite xmas song ever

Thanks for those who suggested Boston with New York, I'll take a look at that, it's not somewhere I considered to be honest.0

My mum has been to Boston and New York, and much prefered Boston. She said that it was a lovely place and somewhere she wants to return to.0

Hi,
I'm going to NY in July with two friends and I have a couple of questions.
I've been interested in the posts on here about flights. Markymoo - if you book flights though something like ebookers, does that mean you can't reserve your seat? I'm a nervoud flyer and this is very important for me. Think the cheapest I've found is 360 Delta to Newark through FlightsUK.
Secondly, I'm looking for an apartment to let, so if anyone has any suggestions, I'd be grateful.

Well im not Mr Moo but im can answer this question for you.
When you book through e-bookers they will allot you a random seat in the class you pay for, However they will issue you an e-ticket with a reservation number for the airline you will be flying with once you have this number you go onto the website of the airline log in and change your seats to suit.
all the bestLive each day like its your last because one day you'll be right0 -

I travel to New York to visit family often and I usually stay with them. But I've booked friends in to the Jane on recommendations from my cousin. Everyone has loved it. It quirky, cheap for New York and close to the A, C and E subway lines. If it has a downside it the communal bathrooms but they are clean.
Check out their website :www[dot]thejanenyc[dot]com
I've also booked friends in to the Carlton Arms, often described as the "Carlton Arms Art Project". Again they have shared bathrooms but they are cheap and each room has been decorated by different artist.

I've also got some really good deals from www[dot]Priceline[dot]com using the name your price feature. Last month I got my grandmother 3 nights at the Grand Hyatt (right next to Grand Central) for £50 a night.
I've also negotiated deals over the phone with the Verve on Long Island City. They include a free breakfast but they are not in Manhattan. But you're 3 blocks from Queens Boulevard station where you can get the express train to Manhattan.

Sorry as a new user I can't post links, you'll have to copy and paste, replacing the [dot] with a full stop.0 -

Thanks guys
. Turns out my friend has booked a hostel somewhere and I'm skipping the night in New York and heading straight down to North Carolina that evening. Will bear in mind your suggestions, though, as am flying back out of NY in september, so it's good to know of decent places!

I have searched the MSE forum for Jersey Gardens and have come up with some old posts about it. At Tripadvisor New Yorkers don't really appreciate Europeans' fascination with it, so can someone who has been there recently please share their experience.

I like shopping for bargains (why else would I be at MSE so often?!) and since I had a great experience last year at the Citadels outlet outside of LA, one of the first things I looked for in NY was an outlet. Woodburry Common seems too high end for me and the bus fare a high ($40) http://www.premiumoutlets.com/outlets/outlet.asp?id=7
I am sure I will find bargains in NY, but I will have some free time since OH will be at a conference and was thinking of going to JG for the day.
