It was! :rotfl: But this is what happens when you book the flights BEFORE thinking through the logistics!:rotfl::rotfl:Sorry Sue - but that sounds a logistical nightmare :eek:
Let me know when they extend the tube to Bristol, and I'll join you! :rotfl:(I get on a tube to south ken, change to picadilly line and get to heathrow and relax

They cant build an underground in Bristol due to the rivers underneath (gosh the things I know

Should have mentioned we were off to Gatwick ...Although train to paddington staright on tube from there (or if you're feeling plush heathrow express)
:D

)
But as I said, there was only ONE train which would get us there in time, it required various changes with not a lot of time allowed, and I just don't trust trains enough ...
And surely they could have put an underground in when they put all the new sewage pipes in? Heaven knows they were big enough ...

Hi,
My partner and myself are going to NY next year after our Civil Partnership. I have a couple of questions to ask please.
After reading the thread, I am unsure whether to book now with an agent, or do it ourselves, if we do, do we risk leaving it 3 months before? We don't want to mess it up being such an important time for us.
Also has anybody found it makes any difference to fly Friday rather than Saturday? We'd prefer to fly out Friday, but if it's easier or less hectic....
We are looking to stay in Greenwich too, as alot of people here seem to think it's a good place.
Thanks for your help, great and very helpful thread too.
no.. you're not invisible, i haven't replied, as i've had other things on my mind...
anyway... feel free to book with a travel agent, but you'll probably just get a standard flight and midtown hotel package, whereas if you book yourself, you'll get a better price, and also you can then really be picky with the hotel you want, and stay in greenwich village....
I've never flown on a Saturday, but normally the flight prices are based upon a saturday night stay. if you fly out friday too, and relax that evening, (don't go to bed too early, got to adjust to the time) then on saturday you'll be fine for a great day of sightseeing, and then a nice meal, drinks afterwards in the evening..
I'm a huge fan of staying in areas other than Midtown, so if you can see somewhere you like in Greenwich, then go for it. As long as it is about 4 - 5 blocks away from a subway stop, you'll then have the whole of NYC on the doorstep..
3 months? I've never booked my holiday to NYC more than 3 months in advance, but it really depends on how brave you are.. I go every March, and normally, that gets booked between 8 weeks and 6 weeks before I go..

All, great thread - currently considering a twin centre type of hol for my honeymoon around September time - was just wondering what peoples opinions where for which place is realistic to twin with New York, already been to Las Vegas and Orlando but anywhere else would be of interest. Will be flying out from Manchester, so happy to DIY with flights with Delta etc and will check here for recommendations regarding the hotel, was just trying to get an idea if anyone has done this kind of thing and where they might suggest - would like at least 5/6 nights in NY as we've never been before.0

I'm off to NY on Tues and will squeeze in a few days to Boston while I'm there (will also head to Provincetown in Cape Cod while I'm there too)"Who throws a shoe, honestly?"

Can anyone recommend some good nightlife places for two lads in their early 20s?
After bars, clubs etc. We're staying in tribeca but anywheres fine as long as there's taxis around to get us back! Into most types of music, preferably indie or dance though for clubs.
Thanks all
Cheers all0
