Has anyone used a company to organise flights, hotels, airport transport and some day trips in New York for a group.

One local company quoted us £800 each for flight, hotel and airport transfers (Uk only) for Jan 2010.

Depending on the price depends how big the group is. At the moment there are 10 of us but more will come if the price is right.

going from my experience of the NYC thread at the top of this forum, most people book a flight and hotel separately, and i've not known many people who have used a company to do a group booking!

have you read through that thread, as there are loads of gems of information in it!

    I've trawled through it.

It's just as we are going as a group made up of families and some singletons it's easier if a company does a group booking for us as it saves so much hassle and we want to be organised!

We have costed flights/hotels for £510 each and I can book a bus here to get us to airport but if we want to give out prices and let people decide whether to come the flights/hotels might not have availabilty for us all and we want to be together.

That's the thing, if you are looking at £510 each, that is substantially cheaper than £800..

the easiest thing to do, is have 3 people around one persons house, all with laptops, and get things booked all at the same time...

it could be doable, delta's website lets you book up to 9 tickets at once, so 2 people could do 18 in total.

most hotel websites allow you to book 4 rooms at a maximum, so that's 8 people if you're all couples...

I think markymoo has the best idea, if you set a date and time and say "Be there ready to make the decision depending on the best price we can get, bring your cheque book" then you can get all booked up and get the money out of people on the spot.

If you go through a company they won't get you the best price, you may still get people dithering, and presumably one person is going to have to pay the organising company and extract money from everyone else! Which, if they're not there when it's paid over, may prove more difficult.

Hi, I hope someone can help as I'm tearing my hair out here!!
Have the chance to stay with family in Connecticut and checked out flight prices 10 days ago-Virgin £1650/BA £1950( 3 adults and 1 child-have to fly in school hols so 30th July to 13th August were chosen dates)
I now have the funds in place to book but the price of Virgin has risen to £2050.
What are the chances of Virgin dropping their price again?
I know that no-one has a crystal ball but if anyone can give me some hope I'd be grateful!
    Thanks if you can help.

Hi all, not sure if this is the right place to post this question...but what the heck :D

Me and my partner are off to New York in November for our honeymoon. We are both female and don't want to break any laws or insult anyone by our behaviour (we don't snog in the streets etc, just hold hands and have the occassional peck on the cheek)

Does anyone know how acceptable gay behaviour is in NY? I know in some countries it's frowned upon.
Just want to make sure we're not spat at or anything as we're walking down the street on our honeymoon! :p:rotfl:

(Also, any recommendation on nice gay nightclubs wouldn't go amiss:))
    Thankees in advance :D

Chelsea is the area you most probably want to visit, as it has more of the LGB bars / scene around there. Any guide book would probably give you more information than I can, but, i'm sure with millions of people in NYC, and a very multicultural environment, 2 people holding hands doesn't make anyone blink an eyelid, regardless of race or sex... you'll be fine!

Yeah I saw loads of same sex couples holding hands when I was there - you probably get less fuss than in the UK...

Although perhaps avoid Time Sq Subway on Friday night - its full of crazy religious preachers who could give you a hard time (but tbh everyone else thinks they're nuts too ;))
