    Hi All,

As Sal says plan your return to JFK carefully - we came back to JFK on Monday afternoon and it took 2 hours to get to the airport by Cab, the queues were horrendous!

I can't wait to go back again!

    -Stefingos

We also travelled to JFK Monday pm (about 1600) We took the LIRR Penn Street to Jamaica ($5) then to JFK then $5 air train - very quick and easy and avoided the traffic jam!

Only four more sleeps til I go to New York. Quite excited.....only downside is that I turn 30 when I'm there

just wanted to say thanks for all the help and advice from everyone on this thread.

naaa.. that's not a downside... trust me... if you meet locals in bars, and start chatting to them, make sure you somehow slip into conversation that you're in NYC for your birthday....

    free drinks... free drinks... :D

Now the DH is really excited - he has been concerned with how we are going to spend our evenings, but after looking at the menu he is planning on trying a couple of these drinks. May need to remind him that he will have to get up early the next morning :rotfl:

    Thanks for this Becky
(he is on google maps as we speak checking out the location)

Two of us will be arriving at LaGuardia NY and we will be staying on 42nd St.

Could anyone tell us if it is cheaper for us to take a taxi direct from the airport or shuttle bus?

    Thanks

Public transport is the best way by far to get to La Guardia airport. If need be you can get a taxi once you're in the city centre, but it's unlikely you'll need to.
See here for a great site about NY airport transfers.

Chelsea is the area you most probably want to visit, as it has more of the LGB bars / scene around there. Any guide book would probably give you more information than I can, but, i'm sure with millions of people in NYC, and a very multicultural environment, 2 people holding hands doesn't make anyone blink an eyelid, regardless of race or sex... you'll be fine!

I'll definitely have a closer look at Chelsea :) thanks.
OH found a great deal online, £776 for flights and board-only hotel (The New Yorker, just across from Macys) 7 nights. Even better deal for us as OH's parents are paying £1000 towards the honeymoon, so we only need to find £276 plus spends :D
We're going in November, the deal is on Hayes & Jarvis website if anyone is interested.
