I have to confess - I have a crochet hook with a tiny light in, so when dear OH is snoring his head off, I can crochet in the dark without waking him.

I didn't know they made hooks with lights in - that's a fantastic idea. I wonder where I'd find one of those?

I'm a firm crochet fan - in fact, nearly everybody in my family is getting something crocheted for Christmas (whether they like it or not!).

Need to look out for one of those light hooks :D

That's the attitude, they will like crochet or else.
I'll try and put some pics up of my recent christmas stuff too.

    Always up for some inspiration.

I am just completing a test sample of blocks of the main stitches because it is 30 years since I last wielded a hook in anger. Knitting I find much harder (left hooker) so the free pattern links are absolutely ace. Thanks guys and girls.

Ha ha, and let me tell you something, it won't be going anywhere if i have anything to do with it! :j

Once i get an idea in my head, that's it. So need to look later and find out how to do the next stitch

Love the idea of hooks with lights! he he. how very clever.

I can vouch for the hooks with a light in the tip - I have one and it's great for using with dark yarn. It's called the crochet lite and there are quite a few different suppliers on google but careful with the different prices :money:
As ladykath mentioned earlier the knit your square thread always has loads of pattern links and experienced knitters/hookers on. We do things for charities and also our own projects. It'd be lovely to see you over there :D.
BTW it took me ages to get the hang of crochet from youtube and a book but got there in the end - my granny squares are still nothing to shout about - and now think I like it better than knitting. Good luck to anyone who is trying to teach themselves and may you all reach the :jmoment soon!

Thanks K2, I shall have to venture in there then for sure!

I am going to make stuff for bonnie babies once up and running, so I'm all up for helping people out. :D

Thanks for the shove in the right direction all of you :D

Mum said I could pick some pressies for myself today so got a crochet set for little animals from TK max today (only it will have to go to Santa first :D )

Love the idea of making crocheted presents. A friend made me a crochet scarf years ago and I was so genuinely touched she had made it! I think that's awesome

This is the book that I used to learn to crochet - but mine was a much earlier edition. It's really good IF you can get hold of a copy.

Have to admit though, that even after 40+yrs of crochet I STILL can't hold my hook/yarn in the 'official' way. I hold my work in my left hand, my hook in my right hand, loose yarn wrapped around middle finger of right hand and manipulate the yarn around the hook using my right index finger - the same as in knitting!

People who see me crocheting don't believe that it works, till they come to stand behind me and can watch that it DOES work out exactly the same.

For anybody who is struggling to hold their work 'correctly' - give it a go :)!

BOUGHT! Thanks Ollie. A book is good especially as I spend a lot of time upstairs and it saves having to keep the computer on :D

Just jumping on the bangwagon if you don't mind ladies! I have tried to teach myself (granny taught me years ago but.....) but with two kids running round I don't really get much done.

I have a whole week before xmas with nothing to do at MIL I think I will have another go.....

Anyone point me towards the particular youtube vids they used? I have Stitch and !!!!! Happy hooker book (you should have seen DH's face when he saw that one on the coffee table!!) but I must admit I do learn better if I can see whats going on.

    Ta!

    Here's to happy hooking!
