    Yes, definitely check out Attic24.

I've also found Crafty Daisies Learn To Crochet posts. I found these very helpful, although you have to remember that the terms given on that blog are American. (What they call double crochet, we call treble, for example.)

Also, there are a lot of videos on You Tube.
  • Hi there, my grandma taught me how to crochet when I was about 10 and I still love doing it now. When my daughters were born I made matching matinee jackets, bootees and bonnets, I loved them. My daughter recently had a baby and she didn't want anything making she said they were old fashioned!!!! I'ts really nice to know that some people still appreciate the art. lol

When I was 10 I was given a hook and a ball of wool and told not to come back till I had mastered crochet, well i did and I now crochet for charity - a lot! Can't seem to find wool in the charity shops much nowadays. II crochet everything I can, dishcloths, toys, scarves, throws, cushion covers. Im notgenius at it but it all looks ok and fills my time whilst looking after disabled hubby.

hi all! learning to crochet is going to be my winter project - i am currently knitting loads of stuff that i want to get done [summer tops in bamboo etc]

I got a very '70's book out of a charity shop which is a complete knitting and crochet course..... patterns are ok - look dated cos they are all brown and orange and tweedy lol but would be ok in different colours i think.

first project on it once you have mastered the basics is to make cushion covers.... plan is to make a few for christmas presents perhaps - my brother and SIL are moving into a narrowboat fairly soon [fingers crossed and nasty cancer permitting :(] and i think that crochet cushions might be an appropriate gift for them?

will be on for advise once i start i expect!

  • I too love crocheting, at the moment i've got two projects on the go, a lap blanket for a friend and a chunky knit wool granny square blanket for myself. I love the chunky knit, a few rounds and it's huge lol.

I'm not very good at normal straight crochet though, always seem to end up with either too many or not enough stitches at the end of the chains :rotfl:

Well i am currently crocheting a cotton square [second attempt] plan is to use it as a dishcloth when it is done so it doesn't matter too much if it is a bit uneven. Pleased with my progress so far lol!

I'm in the middle of crocheting a cardigan (Go for Baroque from the Happy Hooker book). It's my biggest crochet project so far and I'm really enjoying it. For crochet and knitting inspiration and patterns Ravelry is brilliant. I spend hours on there planning what I am going to make next (much longer than I actually spend making things) my project queue is massive!
They seem to have pretty much every pattern on there and I like the way you can see how they turned out for other people before you start, sometimes things look great in the pics on the pattern but don't turn out like that in real life, and if you get stuck with a pattern you can ask other people who made it for help.

Better get back to my crochet!

I'm busy crocheting a jumper for my youngest atm. Well actually I'm re-crocheting it - I made it last week, but when I sewed it up I decided it might be a bit snug for her when winter comes, so I unravelled it and am doing it again! Luckily crochet is really quick to do!!!

Where do you get coloured crochet hooks from? They sound fun!
