Loving the new photos from everyone :T
I've finished the second baby blanket now in addition to the one posted earlier. Have done this one in darker chocolate shades. Will pop a pic on in the next couple of days.

    pollyskettle lovely blanket.

Justamum if you're not too specific about what you want to make try asking around elderly relatives for odds and ends. Freecycle might be worth a try or if you can spare just a few pennies sometimes charity shops have odds of wool.

Unfortunately the most elderly relative I have is my mum! I've already asked her, but she stopped knitting years ago (she does other crafts instead now). Wool in charity shops is like hen's teeth, although I did find some in one shop and I though the price they were asking was astronomical - no complete balls, just odds and ends from the ends of balls. Instead of putting them in a bag and asking, say, £1 for a bag, they were charging for each little bit! I'll see how my budget is after pay day, and maybe get some online.

Now that the boot sales are starting again you'll be able to get loads there, and at ridiculously low prices too. Most of my 'odds and ends' stash consists of partly used (but nearly full) balls that cost me 10p or 20p, and I once bought a patchwork knitting bag containing 10 unopened balls of mohair for £1! The bargains are there, but you have to look carefully as they are often in boxes under the stalls.

If you put £1 a week in a jar until you start buying it you'll have the basis of a good stash.

    Happy hunting.
