Hi all, lurking crocheter here :-)
Im thinking of making my mum a grown up sized version of a round ripple baby afghan for her 60th (not sure if I can link to ravelry here but there are about 500 of them there to oogle at!). I have a lot of off creamy white yarn that I rescued from my late nan's stash, any suggestions on nice grown up colours that would match?
Im afraid Im so asthetically challenged that I can't think of what would look nice until I actually see them together!Mortgage free by 30:eek:: £28,000/£100,000Debt free as of 1 October, 2010

Hi NTBY. I'd say your choice of colours would depend on your mums decor - does she have a definite colour scheme in the room it's planned for or is it fairly neutral?
You're lucky having cream already as this will go with anything. It looks lovely and 'old pottery' if you put it with blues, or you could add sage green and soft pink for a warmer 'country house' look. Or you could just go with shades of cream, beige and browns for a natural earthy effect.
Of course if your mum likes bright colours the sky's the limit, practically anything goes!
I'd say just go with your instinct and it usually turns out well, if perhaps a little unexpected!
Good luck with it, hope you'll post a pic of the colours you choose and of course of the finished blanket. If you're looking for cheap wool you would do well to try here and here.Oh dear, here we go again.0 -
