just a couple of comments on some previous posts. i knew an art student a few years back who knitted old video tapes and made handbags with it, for an art project. amazing.

also i see people on here are talking about ripple effect crochet for blankets etc. can someone point me in the right direction of a free pattern for this please.

This great blog http://attic24.typepad.com/weblog/teeny-tiny-flowers.html has free instructions for making pot covers and a ripple pattern, along with lots of other lovely things! Scroll down on the left hand side to 'pages'.
    Hope it helps!

Attic24 has a tutorial on the ripple or wave pattern. It's very easy to follow. I'm making a small ripple blanket, pics here

My blanket is now 12 squares by 11 squares - aiming for 12 x 12 and I have finally got the inspiration for the border, which should involve a few rows of double or trebles, some more squares and then some more border (the idea is in it's infancy, but I've seen it in my minds eye!).

This is going to end up being one HUGE blanket! I've even listed some bits on eBay (which I never, ever do) as it's getting a bit expensive now!

Must get on - will try to do some pictures later.

    Jennyjelly,
Thanks for the link to that blog to make T-shirt yarn, very useful. There is also a free pattern for a drawstring bag that I've saved too.All I need now is more time!I shall have to get a Flickr account and practice posting photos as I've never done it.I have finished the bathmat, but it really needs an edging I think, and I've run out of T yarn the right colour- have to raid DH wardrobe I think.

Artydoll, you must crochet at the speed of light, you always have something new to show! That's a really pretty one, blues and greens are my favourite too.

Orkneystar that is way too pretty to be a dishcloth, I bet your mum will use it for something much more decorative!
Oh dear, here we go again.
