My first really large project was her Granny Stripe blanket, which is now on my bed. Whenever I look at her blog I think what lovely memories of their childhood her kids are going to have when they grow up. (soz for appalling grammar in that sentence! )
Love the animals: God has given them the rudiments of thought and joy untroubled. Do not trouble their joy, don't harrass them, don't deprive them of their happiness.
  • I was an avid crochet addict in the 70's, making all sorts of stuff ranging from shawls, waistcoats, tank tops to jumpers. I worked for a knitting wool manufacturer (anyone remember Emu wools?) and could buy the wool dead cheaply. From all my left over scraps of wool (and whatever I could scrounge from friends) I made up a blanket from squares of crochet. This is still in use today! In winter I keep it handy to throw over our duvet if the nights are extra cold and in the Spring it goes with us when we re-open our caravan after the winter. It can get chilly at night in a caravan with those thin walls!

Reading through some of this thread has spurred me on to sort through my long discarded crochet hooks and get busy once again! I bet I am shocked though when I look at the price of wool!

  • Abuela, sometimes mixed bundles of wool come up on Ebay quite cheaply, or try car boot sales.

Another fan of Lucy at Attic24 here! And I have subscribed to the new Simply Crochet magazine, but not read it yet, as I am in Spain for a few months, so have to wait for family to visit & bring it.

In the meantime, I am making a Ripple Blanket from Attic24.
