Those dolls are lovely! Well done.

I am just wondering how to work out how much crochet I will get from a ball of wool? At the moment I am using guesswork but I think my luck will run out soon. Any help would be appreciated please

Think it all depends on what pattern you are doing as a very lacy treble one seems to use less yarn than a very tightly packed dc. I'm no expert though so could be wrong.

Lovely makes everyone. Just spent half an hour looking at the goodies on this thread. Well done to you all.

You gave me some much-needed inspiration to finish my WIP, which is a VW Campervan (as usual, turning out more complicated than I'd hoped!).

    Happy hooking :)

    Hello crocheters,
I normally only look at the knitting threads - can't crochet to save my life!
I posted the following on the knitting threads and have ventured into the dark side to share with you!

    Hi all,

Just looked at the upcoming specials on Lidl website:

    http://www.lidl.co.uk/cps/rde/xchg/lidl_uk/hs.xsl/offerdate.htm?offerdate=37981

There are 3 yarns: a pom-pom scarf yarn, a 100% cotton yarn and a bamboo/viscose yarn. Also a variety of needles and crochet hooks. Available next Monday 21 January.

Its a bit quiet on here at the moment - hopefully you're all soooo busy hooking that you dont have time to post ;)

I'm away all weekend at in laws as hubby helping out by taking his dad to hospital for an op on friday and he's doing all the driving and moral support. So as I'm going to be stuck in someones house for few days with not much to do apart from look after my kids I'm taking my project bag and hopefully getting some things finished - cant wait :j

Will hopefully have some pictures to post on monday and hopefully have some of yours to look at too!

Jumping in here to say I crochet as well. :)

Instead of making blankets or wash cloths, I've fallen in love with doll making and amigurumi figures.

Here are a few photos of my dolls if anyone would like to see them.

My recent projects were brooches made with crocheted flowers. I can easily attach them to hair bands too which is a plus! The brooch backs were 15p from a haberdashery.

    This is my favourite one:

And I also tried some fingerless gloves and made a coordinated flower to put on a hat that I already had (which was purchased for me, not made by myself):

they are brilliant, im desperate to learn to crochet and bought the hooks and wool, but no idea where to start I love the flowers and would love to make them as gifts for my brownie pack, so ill sit quuietly later and try and learn!!!

    I love the hat especially!

My mum tried to teach me but I couldn't understand it.

I eventually learnt by watching videos on YouTube. I watched mostly a lady called bethintx1, but as she's from USA I learnt the american names for the stitches. (The stitches are done exactly the same way but the names are different i.e., american double crochet is called treble in the uk).

Some of the videos on there are very good and there are some really basic beginner ones.

Good luck with it, I wish I'd bothered to learn years ago.
