Do you think you could use a slightly cheaper yarn, like Patons 100% cotton dk? thats lovely and soft and good quality too.

That's beautiful MissMilly :) What is it, though? At first I thought it was a bedspread, but looking at all the pics it doesn't seem to be....? :)

Oops sorry PixieDust and thank you, I should have said, it is a Japanese Flower Scarf as shown on Lucy's blog at Attic24 :o

MissMilly that looks fabulous :D have you had a chance to wear it yet? I have been too busy spinning to really do much crochet although I did make the spring wreath from Attic24.

Thanks Rummer, I have only just finished all the blocking, so haven't had a chance to wear it yet, hopefully I'll be able to at the weekend if the weather doesn't get too warm :rotfl:. I'm hoping it will go nicely over my long black velvet coat.

I saw your spinning on your blog, you are certainly doing very well with it, such an achievment too.

Hi Pipkin, I'm sure you could use any yarn really, just try it with different sized hooks to get the tension right. Before I started the scarf I made one flower in acrylic DK first just to try out the pattern and it was absolutely fine.

:o Thank you very much! I have been trying to do a wee bit each day to get my fibre thinner. Now I have a few balls of yarn that I need to make things from, not sure what that thing (or things) will be though :rotfl:

Thank you for starting this thread. I've finally got to the end of it but I get so sidetracked with all the other links and blogs that I forget where I'm up to. I've dug out my only crochet hook (4.5mm) and started on granny squares again just to back into the swing of it.

Where would you recommend for wool? I've been to all the places locally but there's just the usual DK in not very interesting colours.

What kind of yarn are you looking for? Acrylic or natural?

Deramores is a good site to look at :D

I'm thinking of a having a go at a scarf in a nice natural wool, maybe even MissMillys beautiful flower scarf which is just amazing. I think around £5 a ball is all I could afford and obviously in a pretty range of colours.

I've had a look on that website and it's amazing. Soooo much choice it's made it even harder to choose.

When you decide what type of yarn you want to use post on here before you buy as we can often find really good savings :D
