Yet more gorgeous creations, they are all very lovely.

I've made my very first granny square, which I was going to just unpick and use the yarn again, but I was so pleased I've decided to back it with felt and use it as a coaster. I'm now working on a round which I hope might turn into a basic beanie style hat I'm only using a cheap ball of acrylic yarn to see if I could do it, but I have to say I've found quite difficult to work with as it's quite fuzzy so I've ordered some of the Rico creative cotton since it's mentioned so much, plus the colours are really nice.

I've also purchased some lovely wool to use for a felted bag pattern I've bought (might be a while before I'm confident that I'm good enough to do it, but it can always be unpicked and started again!)

I've seen the advert for the yarns and hooks coming up in Lidl so popping in there to see what it's like

My Rico Creative Cotton arrived today, now I need to decide what to make with it. I have posted the colours on my blog but they are a mix of blues, greens, purples and pinks.

Please help, I have for years tried to master crocheting and still can't get to grips with it! I have watched utube but the more I watch the more confussed I get, I'm not sure if USA versions are different to UK and that is one of the reasons I am messing up lol. Does anyone have any tips/advice please

    Hi Kelly-Lou

My main hobby is knitting but I am also able to do a bit of basic crochet. I don't hold the hook as shown in any of the videos etc but have devised my own way which seems to work. Unfortunately there is no way I can describe what I do! I have saved this link so I can try and do some crochet squares. The instructions are very straightforward. http://doyoumindifiknit.typepad.com/do_you_mind_if_i_knit/2009/05/the-quick-crochet-pattern.html

Click on the tutorial on the left hand side. Hope this helps.

Anyone have any suggestions for an easy to crochet baby blanket? I know I could do Granny squares but thought there could be other nice but easy patterns to try.

I find the clips too fast so I got a book from the library and used their picture guides to teach myself. Cute and Easy crochet has a good guide at the back and lovely patterns to work on.

Grannybroon why don't you try a Lucy ripple blanket I am making one at the moment and they are lovely :D

It depends on your budget tbh. I love working with Debbie Bliss Baby Cashmerino but it is expensive. Many people rave about the stylecraft yarn. Most of the time I use a DK wool.

Kelly-Lou, you will probably be better to use a Double Knit yarn or even a chunky yarn for practice in the first instance.
