Well I have finally got myself sorted with a crochet hook and the right kind of wool so I am going to give it a go! I will post pics of my attempts soon.

    Hello everyone
I used to crochet years ago when i was a teenager. I recently feel like taking it up again - ive suddenly re-found my creative side in sewing and dressmaking.

My problem is i cant remember if i need a certain wool/yarn and so far i have practiced single and double stitches.

My plan in to crochet about 50 smallish circles/shapes to use as key rings for wedding favours for the ladies.
    Any advice appriciated

Can I ask a wee question of all you you lovely crochet experts please? I bought myself a gorgeous long crocheted skirt at a car boot sale for £1 and managed to put a lining in it, but have noticed it has some holes in it. What is the easiest way to fix them please? I don't have a crochet hook or anything. Just basic needles and thread.

    wow, some lovely makes.

i'm new to crocheing. for some reason i've just never been able to get it. it is the one craft that really baffled me. but a couple of weeks ago i took the bull by the horns , used you tube, and off i went. first few attempts were interesting,lol.. but in the end i got one of my sons crochets blankets and followed that as a pattern guide, sort of working backwards.

and finally sucsess. i'm loving it.

i made a small blue blanket for my new babies ( due in aug ) car seat. but i didn't do enough stitches and it is very neat and tight and not very holey but looks fab, and my 3 kids love it.

Then last week i started one for my dd. got lots of working going on in house, so i haven't had the evenings for my crafts like normal. but once i get going i love seeing how quickly it grows. i been making up for not havign spare evenigns and using about a ball of wool a day ( only 100g so not big balls) and where we've had a few days of coooler weather, it been so nice having it on my lap keeping my warm as i make it.

i will post some pictures up later. it isn't any way professional and there maybe a few extra stitches here and there, but i'm so chuffed i've finally learnt to do it at the grand old age of 29 ! ,lol.

I had a 2h class on the basics but I am finding it really tricky trying to create a granny square. Spent a bot of time watching some clips on you tube but I keep getting lost. Think I might book some one to one tuition to help me get the hang of it.

just quick post to show you all what I have made for my little DD. Apologies for blocking our her gorgeous little face, just I don't want every Thomas, Dicky and Harold pawing over her on MSE.

And by the way......... the pom pom took just as long as the hat. Chunky yarn at £1.44, a hat to her specification :rotfl: I'm quite pleased :D
