Can anyone tell me if I can change wool half way through a blanket from DK to chunky and use a bigger hook. I've done one round at it looks ok, obviously the patter is bigger. Has anyone one tried this?? Thanks in advance J
Sorry I've no idea but if its looking okay then why not. The great thing about crochet though is, if you don't like the look when you've done a bit more, you can unravel much easier than knitting and you won't have dropped any stitches
Good luck with your project.

I've finally managed to post some pics on my blog of my last 2 projects & one of my WIP's Work in Progress.
Lola, thanks for the info re the baby slippers, I'm now repeating to myself, 'I mustn't start the slippers til I finished the 3 baby blankets'
Hugs Hester
your welcomei make these on the train they are that easy
(off to be nosy at your blog)Hi All,
Lola just had to post and say I am crocheting. I found an everlasting square pattern, very simple and after going around a couple of times, I am off and don't need the pattern:j yaaay I am so pleased cos I have been trying for ages. I am going to make a blanket for DSS and his wife who are expecting a little boy in June. I would like to back it with some nice soft brushed cotton. Is that fairly easy.
Anyway back to crocheting (my hands are aching cos I can't put it down:rotfl:)
Backing it should be fine, i do that with fleece sometimes. Can anyone tell me if I can change wool half way through a blanket from DK to chunky and use a bigger hook. I've done one round at it looks ok, obviously the patter is bigger. Has anyone one tried this?? Thanks in advance J
i buy odds n ends of wool, and when i get the notion for making a blanket, i doubt all the wool is the same, if its a noticable thickness difference, i do less stitched in between the gaps, if its not i do the same, but i generally stick with the same hook - more down to lazyness than anything else lol.
feel as though i havnt beena round in ages! trying to stay away from the computer, its such a time eater and i dont have much of that anymore now that Uni's backbut on the plus side, i get 2 hours a day to crochet, yae

Reading this thread has prompted me to find my crochet hooks.... invested in some wool yesterday... tried to do some handwarmers first..... oh my.... I've forgotten somuch, so went to the hearts that you can do as bunting, 2nd one looked reasonably heart shaped, but as my wool is one colour, doesnt look so good as pastels edged in a contrast! But it got me back into it, and now I'm trying to concnetrate on the hand warmers, so hope I'll finish them
Thanks to Dizzy for her encouragement too! xxThe mind is like a parachute. It doesn't work unless it's open0 -

Last time I went on a plane, which is 18 months ago, you could take crochet hooks. When I phoned to check at our local airport the security man I spoke to said "yes you can take them, but I don't think it should be allowed"! I told him that it was nonsense, and a nicely sharpened pencil or a biro would cause more damage than a crochet hook! Anyway, I crocheted quite a lot of my DD2's jumper on a flight to SA.:D0 -
Thanks Justamum - I agree, could do so much more damage with my house keys than a crochet hook

Yes! I regularly take mine on flights and have never had a problem. Of course you may get someone super paranoid at security who would take them off you, but if your hooks aren’t metal they wont raise red flags on the x ray so you should be fine.
The only problem I find for long flights is that you cant have scissors so you cant change colour easily.Mortgage free by 30:eek:: £28,000/£100,000Debt free as of 1 October, 2010

does anyone know where I can find some inexpensive square pillows? I am making matching bedspread / pillow cases for a wedding present, and would like to cover small square pillows that would look as at home on a sofa as on the bed so they can use the set for either. I'd like to be able to find some small, dark coloured ones as that will look better peaking between the stitches.
Any suggestions welcome!Mortgage free by 30:eek:: £28,000/£100,000Debt free as of 1 October, 2010
