I have just finished my christmas garland, just white cotton snowflakes stiffened with a little pva solution and threaded onto a crochet cord. I added some little red checked ribbons for added 'festiveness'. I am so proud of it!http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5243/5286094566_df9dd30cb7_m.jpg

  • Hi y'all! Hope you all had a lovely Christmas and that any crocheted gifts you gave were well received? Some people are so ungrateful when they get a homemade present :( and think that you are being cheap, not realising the work, time, thoughtfulness, planning, materials AND love that go into something made especially for them. I have learnt who to make things for now and who just get a "Merry Christmas" from me!!!

-went down well with my crew, not sure what I am going to do with the rest of the hats that I've made though :o
Have a fantastic new year and here's to 2011 being the year when crochet 'art' gets the recognition it deserves :smileyhea

  • Bluebellbunny, i soo agree!
i told my sister i was making a tea hamper for my granda and she said (in front of a packed pharmacy) thats such a cheap present - my retort - it will be more apprechiated than another pair of socks!

I got the 'lets crochet' mag today, the ones that comes with wool and hooks, they also do a 'lets make' cards, knit baby clothes n something else to.
I hate that its all 'toys' that they show, and no clothes :( but it does give good gift ideas, the purses look cute and i think i will be making some of them up for a few wee girls whos birthdays it is soon.

And tonight, for the first time since june, im going to my friends craft night, taking my puff blanket with me to finish, or i might take the new mag to start the purses :)

My friend recently got into it and she made a pig lol

  • bluebellbunny your hats look fabulous! Love looking at crochet pics. I spend so long on 'google images crochet' I can't get anything done :)
Lolalemon I think the tea hamper sounded lovely. Homemade hampers are great because you can add exactly what the person likes, it's so much more personal than picking up something off the shelf.
wilykit it's lovely to see your enthusisam. Can't wait to see some of your makes.
A work colleague bought me the book 'Crocheted Finger Puppets' by Gina Alton for Christmas which was a lovely surprise, she sees me taking my crochet into work, said she saw the book and thought I'd like it :) I'm going to try out some tonight for our GD so I'll post a pic once I've mastered them. I'm not too good with patterns and I think I'm going to have to youtube some of the terminology lol
Hope we see lots more crochet pics posted on here in 2011.

Have just finished one of the lions from the puppet book. was a bit fiddly and he looks like he has two fried eggs for eyes but at least I managed it. Have put him next to the photo from the book.

I didn't have any dark wool for his mane so he has a shock of mulberry fur :)
Have also finished the fingerless mittens and they just need sewing up but they're knitted so will post those on the knitting thread :)
