Firstly just want to say how lovely your creations are, its great to see the photos.
That blanket is amazing!!
I am just taking up crochet again - not crocheted for over 20 years now. I would like to make this scarf but am I correct in thinking that the dc should actually be tc?
I would appreciate if someone could please clarify this for me, thank you.

Yeah its american stitches...
so should be yarn over, through stitch, yarn over, pull through stitch (3 on hook) , pull through 2, pull through 2
Think thats a UK Treble. but it is a US Double.
The way i can tell is how many of the chain you miss at the start

Thank you very much
I was almost sure it would be treble but its reassuring when someone can confirm it.
The info about how many chains are missed at the start is really helpful too, I hadn't thought of that.
I might be brave a post a photo when I finish it.0 -

No probs, I remember when i started, i had my nanas old needlecraft book(uk) and some stuff from the 'net, i had to pick on as they confused me otherwise and i had no one else to help
found you tube very helpfull, so thats why i do US stitches, but i can now do uk patterns ok, although some do confuse me, like a treble treble?
And please do post pics, i love seeing others work

Hello to another poster from East Yorks
They're crochet hooks(knitters have needles). I prefer metal hooks. I was given some beautiful bone ones from freecycle, but they're frustrating to use as the hook is too small

I want to get some coloured ones like these http://shop.ebay.co.uk/items/__coloured+crochet+hooks_W0QQ_dmdZ2?rvr_id=187951813568&crlp=1572450880_228459_228460&UA=WXF%3F&GUID=73a22d9b12b0a0aad2b32823ff1a8b1c&agid=736049380&MT_ID=10&keyword=coloured+crochet+hooks&ff4=228459_228460
I would recommend aluminium rather than plastic because I find that wool/thread slides better on the aluminium.0 -

I learned with uk stitches, so if I print off an American pattern I go through it and write the 'right' stitches on it so I don't get confused.
I've never used a treble treble (it would be a very tall stitch!) but a double treble is one more yoh than a treble, and a treble treble is one more yoh than a double treble.0 -

Hi wilykit, not sure if you got the answer you were looking for yet but I get these ones - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=400172437215&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT they come from Hong Kong I think so take a while to get to you but you get a variety of sizes, great price and they look good too. If you are asking what size hook you should use, it all depends what type of yarn you are using really but an average would probably be from 4-5.5mm hook, whatever you feel more comforable with and what gives you the size you are after but if you are working from a pattern it should tell you which size is required. Hope this helps.......and good luck with your blanket
