Here is ......................I think, a picture of the finished blanket I made recently after asking for help on here for the sea cratures.
In this picture is the person I made it for, she had the blanket 'in mind' and tells me its just how she imagined it.
I made lots more creatures, by trial and error but in the end she only wanted the few you see. The turtles didn't even get a look in!LL148813_108788532525290_100001824318151_66935_4809912_n.jpg

I've just picked up a ball of wool and a crochet hook for the first time in more years than I'm prepared to admit. Soothing, isn't it? :D

Hi Bramble, what book did you get? Is it in English or American? I tried loads of times with books but couldn't get my head around it but I discovered youtube tutorials and it all made sense :j as a first project I did this - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v7moLuvusww which is VERY easy and will help you learn but you have to remember that most of the youtube tutorials are American which uses different terms than to English crochet but you can easily find a conversion online or maybe in your book. Then after that Teresa on youtube have loads of great videos. Here is a link to her basic crochet stitches but also compare with you book what she says - http://www.youtube.com/user/tjw1963#grid/user/690A55EC532071F0 I only learn a few months ago and used youtube along side a couple of books and am now crocheting away like crazy, just can't seem to get anything actually finished - DOH!
Good luck Bramble and hope you come back soon with photos :)

    Hi there

I just wanted to ask you all a question if you dont mind. I recently sent off for a book on how to crochet socks. I have never done it before and was wondering if I would need a special hook to make them?

Normally I make blankets, (not granny squares) I havnt managed to master them yet. Just one continuious peice of crochet. I have recently manged to master the shell stitch. I will try and get some piccis of my finished pecies. Unfortunatly I dont have a camera myself but, will ask a family member to lend me one.

I hope everybody has a lovely evening.

    Thank you in advance

I havn't tried socks yet, but u don't need a fancy crochet hook specifically for socks (unlike knitting) you may need different size hooks tho, most likely a 3.5/3.75/4/4.5 but best wait till u get your book so u dont buy one that you wont need just now.
When u get your book, try searching you tube for stitch tutorials, will save you getting frustrated, (although im still trying to figure out how to do a foundationchain! the bain of my life!)
