I usually use a size 5 for most things, though that's usually hearts, blankets and fingerless mittens. The crochet hook I love using is the metal one I got free with part one of the crochet magazine though the grey plastic type ones are ok for me as well.
Saying that I'm actually going to knit, yes knit, some fingerless mittens I've found on the net, they look lovely and seem very easy to do...

I got 3 metal and 1 plastic. I am using the 4.5 for my blanket at the moment, although at the moment its only the size of a napkin!! :)

    Those gloves are lovely!!!

I have just finished my christmas garland, just white cotton snowflakes stiffened with a little pva solution and threaded onto a crochet cord. I added some little red checked ribbons for added 'festiveness'. I am so proud of it!http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5243/5286094566_df9dd30cb7_m.jpg

  • Wow, have read the 64 pages over the last few days and you have made some beautiful creations, I used to crochet a lot when I was young, found it easier to deal with one stitch at a time rather than a row of knitting. I made several baby blankets, a double bedspread and a cotton tablecloth amongst other things but haven't touched a hook in over 18 years. Now I'm inspired to start again though and have started a twirly scarf - have done the chain! I want to do a blanket eventually, but want to find some lovely colours to do it in.
  • Now that this tissue box has winged it's way to DD, I can display it to the world.

I didn't have a pattern for this, just made it up as I went. I'm nearly pleased with it but if I do another one, there are ways I would improve it.
