Oooops sorry Shysarah I was giving praise where it wasn't due (it's me age) but the flowerloom flower is still lovely. Are you going to make a blanket of them? It's a lifes work I'll tell you, I have had one on the go for at least 30years.

    Bella.

Don't worry hun. That flower has been given to my mum now as it was my first on her late sisters loom. No one has used it to make anything since she died eleven years ago so its quite a sentimental piece of kit.

I do like the idea of doing a blanket of flowers as that is something she herself did with it.

At the moment I am working on a granny square blanket. I only learnt crochet at the end of september so am expecting my blanket to be a bit of a hotch potch but hey, got about 30 squares now so its progressing.

In hospital next week for a gallbladder removal with 1 or 2 nights in if all goes well or a week if not so I will be taking my wool :D

How do you all connect your granny squares? Is there a very simple way?

    Sarah x

P.s. Bluebellbunny I love that hat!!!!

Hi Shysarah you can join squares in two ways, either sewing them with a slip stitch or crocheting them together. Lucy on her Attic 24 blog has some very clear tutorials. Just google it, but be warned that site is full of wonderful inspiration, you may have to give up the day job!

ginnyknit lovely blankets and lovely colours, is that yarn all from Wilkies?

Cute blankets ginnyknit I wish I had the patience to do blankets, I'm fine making squares/hexagons etc but just never get around to sewing them together - that part drives me mad  :rotfl: I have finished a one piece round one which I will take pics of and will maybe get around to sewing together my million shapes ONE DAY! :o

VERY easy, here's the pattern - there is even a video tutorial for the beginning of it if you wanna look at that. The flower was just something I mad for a bag but thought it looked better on the hat and since I'd put a brooch clip on the back it was easy to transfer. If you wanna make it I will have a think and post the pattern for that too just have to remember how I did it since I have lost the pattern
Other than that does anyone have any ideas for boys hats? I have been doing lots with flowers, bows and bobbles but nothing very manly so am looking for ideas........oh when I say boys I really mean men! :o

  • I've just watched Kirsty's homemade home on Sky+ There was crochet on there and I have been taken by it. I am clueless but they said all you need is a hook and something to crochet. Is that It really? If I ebay 'crochet hook' and buy some wool I could start?

I really need to learn how to do it but I guess you tube would help me. I'm hoping to pick this up as a hobby, a one that won't cost me a fortune to keep going! (loved the garden string baskets on the programme.. idea for Christmas hampers next Christmas for sure!)

Hi beingfrugal. You tube will certainly provide lots of tutorials and it is helpful to actually see hands at work. However, Lucy on her blog Attic24 (just Google it) has some very explicit tutorials which you can follow stitch by stitch as you work. Yes, it is easy and once you start you will be hooked and it will provide hours of pleasure and statisfaction while you make useful things for yourself, friends and family.
