I still iron undies but that might stop when OH and I move in together! It'll be all hands to deck and although he is domesticated he hates ironing. I don't mind it once I start - but its the thought of it! :rotfl: :rotfl:0

I invested in a Steam Generator Iron about a year ago and ironing is sooooo much easier now. It wasn't an expensive one - cost me £40 from a local Cash Generator shop (factory reconditioned but has worked fine). I find that I can do a mountain of ironing in half the time - I still hate it but it is so quick to do things like T Shirts and stuff that I never have to iron for more than half an hour at a time. The only thing is that the iron and ironing board take up more space and that can be rather limiting.Jane

Hi, had to laugh at the comment about the ironing blocking up the spare room as that is exactly the situation in my house:o
My ironing board is also a permanent feature in the kitchen . We moved here 2 months ago and ever since I have been behind with the ironing because I can't seem to find a comfortable place to stand and do it all:o so what happens is I do a bit here and there when the need arises which is virtually daily, never get into a routine and it all piles up in the spare room.
Going to take the advice on here and set up camp in front of Eastenders and tackle it on Sunday........0 -
I dont iron anything except linen stuff.
I hang out to dry and then smothe and fold and put away. the weight of the rest of the clothes in the pile in the drawer seem to smoothe out any creases. And if the odd thing does have a couple creases in, by the time ive got to wherever im going they have dropped out from the heat of my body anyways!Baby Ice arrived 17th April 2011. Tired.com! :j0 -
I don't mind ironing....its the putting away I cant stand, thats why I have piles of ironed clothes sitting on the dining table lol.
Many moons ago when I was a SAHM and we was skint I used to do ironing for a neighbour in return for haircuts for the family (she was a mobile hairdresser). That was heaven, just ironed it, hung it up or left in a pile and she had to do putting away.
I have now got a press, its great, I can even manage to press stuff with a broken wrist. It was a bit expensive.....but hey I deserve it lol
Saying that, I don't iron anything unless I think it really needs it. I can remember people talking at work saying they loved ironing t-towels and seeing 4 nice creases in them......errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrnow lets see.....an hour ironing unessential things or an hour reading posts on here! I know what wins in my eyes lol.

Saying that, I have two piles when I take it in off the line, ironing, and non-ironing. Into the non pile go underwear, pj's, towels, duvet covers and fitted sheets, and anything like polyseter trousers/blouses that don't need it. This usually more than halves the ironing pile.
I don't iron bedclothes except pillow cases, I do like a smooth crisp pillowcase! I also iron teatowelas because I read somewhere hat ironing sterilises them, but I really don't have a lot. I try and do it when it comes off the line too, there's nothing worse than looking at a pile of it for days!
i do exactly the same however for sme absurd reason the last 3 or 4 months i started ironing my king size duvet covers - now i cant put them on the bed without it !!! grrrrr !!
but i feel a real sense of satisfaction on completing a pile of ironing - i iron about 3 times a week and wash about twice a day:j MFi3 wannabee :j

I iron on sunday evening. I do it for an hour and a half. Anything that is not done in that time has to be worn creased. I chose sunday so the kids can start the week looking respectable. And my work stuff is done too. And there is usually somthing soothing to watch on tv., like the great british villiage fete. I do the same as some of you and sort into ironing and non ironing as when I get it off the line. I put the non ironing away immediately, then the ironing pile stays self supporting. I hate the thought of ironing, but must have smooth pillow cases and t shirts.Anyone who lives within their means suffers from a lack of imagination:beer:

I hate ironing too! OH does all his whilst listening to MP3 player.
Then I do mine and daughter's, whilst watching telly. Fold and smooth t-shirts, towels, tea towels etc.
If having to iron shirts, it's the collar first, then the sleeves, then from right front around the back, to the left front, both shoulders and on the hanger, quick as you like!

I rank ironing alongside oven cleaning - the pits!
I find though that if I do somehow manage to accumulate a large pile, getting a friend to bring her iron, board and clothes over is a good way of getting the backlog done in the least painful way. We make a cuppa, each start our own ironing and gossip away for a couple of hours, not even noticing that the piles of ironing are going down nicely.0 -
Hi
I hate ironing, I would rather clean the toilet. I don't iron for my husband, he was in the army for five years and is much better than me. I try and iron as I take things off the line. If anything is really creased, I stick it in the tumble dryer for five minutes. I don't iron sheets, duvet covers ect. I have a friend who irons pants! Mind you she doesn't work. Hope this helps xx;)0
