  • The things I actually want cost more in Zavvi than they do in HMV, and of course more than Amazon/Play, where I can earn iPoints/cashback for purchase so I'll be waiting a bit longer before parting with any cash.
  • Popped in Zavvi this morning hoping for a bargain, ended up shopping at Game in the end for the same price and redeemed loyalty points so it was cheaper!
  • Just keep your eyes and ears open; the nearer they come to the final closing dates, the hastier they'll be in their reductions.
  • Was in my local one today and not very impressed by the discounts... got a Ray LaMontagne CD for £4 and Senses Fail's new album for £6.40 which I was pleased with, but I was expecting to pick up a lot more! xxx

You have to watch these shady dealers - 20% off, but they are marking their prices UP!!
I was in Zavvi in Milton Keynes today looking at a set of anime DVDs which were priced at £18, less 20% discount. I said to my son that £18 for these was a really good price, then put them down to look at some other DVDs on the next shelf. As I was looking a sales assistant came along, picked up some DVDs on the anime shelf, including the boxed set I had looked at, peeled off the price labels and replaced them with new labels.
When I went back to see what she had done, lo and behold the new label she had put on was for £20!! She was going round the shop replacing a lot of labels, presumably like the Woolies administrators did - they introduce a 20% off EVERYTHING sale, then in the background they reprice a lot of stock upwards. Punters think they are getting a good deal, but they are actually getting stiffed.

p.s. And they actually had little stock that I wanted - very few PC games - even with 20% off I ended up buying something in Gamestation instead.

p.p.s. The MK shop doesn't have any World of Warcraft games or game cards, or XBox Live cards.
You don't get medals for sitting in the trenches.
  • Wasn't early in the morning was it?

Zavvi's prices have always been cheaper in the week, I've twice found Zavvi staff changing the weekday prices on some items. Once I caught one staff member peeling off the weekday price from the main window display, he just smiled.

If they really do put prices up at the weekend i'm not surprised they went bankrupt...

the cost for the marketing materials (stickers) please the time spent writing out the new price stickers, taking old ones off etc.. such a waste lol

    Brilliant! :rotfl:

Amazing that they would have a conversation with you explaining that they were changing the prices because it was a weekday, and they would change them back just befoe the weekend..

Surely it wasn't just you seeing someone changing a price (which just happened to be a weekday).. nahh that's really unlikely!
....AND! a member of staff smiling at you when you looked at them doing their work! The cheek of it!.... clearly up to no good!
  • was in zavvi earlier and noticed Disney's Cars was £20 and under the sticker there was an £8 most likely many more items like this in the place.

Also staff dont seem to be aware of what discounts are going on, was buying a few of those bday cards with musicians on them the girl charged me the full wack and i said is there no discount on them and she was like no sorry there is no discount on cards & posters, yet as i walked out of the shop it clearly said in black & white on the window 30% of all Cards & Posters

Good riddance to another overpriced store
