Maybe your friends dont seem to have read the book and taken much notice of the detailed nutritional advice I think. It states that regular excercise is compulsory and that at no time do you not eat carbs!
A lot of people are misguided as to what Atkins actually is as they only hear the misinformed reports on it where selected parts are quoted. You start off for just two weeks on a very small amount of carbs anf gradually increase them Its not any sort of crash diet-its a way of living the rest of your life. It also states you should have regular blood tests for a range of things to check that all is well and to monitor your improvements. People are becomind diabetic through eating too many carbs which turn to sugars in our bodies-this wont happen on Atkins-the reverse is true. If a cancer researched died of cancer, would you say to stop the research? The press is full of nonsense-its like painting a picture and showing you one corner of it and asking you if its good art. Please read the book or at least visit Atkins.com to become PROPERLY informed.
The funny part is-its because of the bad press that I got interested in Atkins! As I have my own opinions and a lack of mistrust in everything and everone I decided to research the facts. Look what happened-I became informed and followed the Atkins way!Annual Grocery budget 2018 is £1500 pa £125 calendar month £28.84 pw for 3 adults0 -

I thought it was initially, but aren't carbs taken out and then re-introduced slowly?0 -
Atkins is an amazing diet where you will never go hungry again yet still lose weight. This is not a gimmick or the latest fad. The Atkin's Diet has been around for decades. Most people will lose 10-30 pounds in the first month! How do they do it? They eat all the meat, cheese, eggs, and fats (like butter and oils) until they are full. There is no calorie counting or using tasteless low fat foods. There is no starvation. What is the trick you may ask? Limiting carbohydrates in your daily food intake. If you think nobody cares about you, try missing a couple of payments.0

But what little I read of it Ganyam, carbohydrates still had to be eliminated and then re-introduced until there was a balance.
With such an unbalanced diet, as it excludes some fruits too I think, wouldn't it be unhealthy?0 -
Thats not the atkins then, if you eat carbs its defeating the atkins...... Its unhealthy and stupid..
You want to loose weight go to the gym atkins is rubbish.....If you think nobody cares about you, try missing a couple of payments.0 -

It's the Atkins as I read it Ganyam. Carbs were totally eliminated for the first week or two.
But if anyone does want to lose weight, I wouldn't recommend Atkins apart from a week or two. The rest is true ... lose weight by working off any excess that people have eaten ... either in a gym or by walking etc. It's common sense to most people on a diet. But there are exceptions which Atkin's is no use for.
Which reminds me ... I've got a few pounds to lose, so it's about time I led a less sedentary lifestyle0 -
My Fave low carb MSE Breakfast.
Sainsburys value smoked salmon trimings - 88p a pack
3 eggs
cream
mature chedder cheese.
mix all together can either microwave or on hob to make scrambled eggs - tastes really lovely. sometimes have this for lunch with avocado as well. not sure of the carb count though.
another favourite is brocolli and cauliflower cheese. for the cheese sauce use cream so no flour.
i snack on pepperami - extra hot also raises your metabolism due to the chillis
baby bels are good also.
have a lot of salads for lunch as can prepare at work either chicken drumsticks or tinned tuna is also good.
morrisons do this antipasto meat selection for £1.99 which is lovely to take to work.
I basically also cook normal meals and just serve with vegetables rather than pasta or rice, although have just brought some low carb pasta from boots however I have hardly used it.
it is really nice to experiment with fish as morrisons normally have something reduced - brought some lovely smoked halibut the other day which I poached in milk. flaked up really nice and ended up eating most of it out of the pan - was meant to save it to take to work!!
Best of luck - the atkins website also has recipes although very american good for ideas.
