Cheap Parcel Delivery Thread Mk4

I can get you 30kg to France for £11.50 inc VAT!! But Ireland????
Basically, the issue with Ireland is that there isn't a great deal of parcel/haulage volume coming out, so therefore the rates going in are just as expensive. If we want cheaper rates to Ireland we need to send more people to live there. Or get all the Irish fanatically frantically buying and selling on ebay and running e-retailing businesses.0 -
It appear Low Cost Parcel Delivery have stopped doing UK mainland, they must have falled out with DHL, ParcelForce and FedEx. They're only offering Europe etc now?
Hope no one had parcels booked with them!0 -
Is it possible to send something with a volume of over 0.23m^3 for less than a tenner? It seems most companies are charging £20-£30 for a parcel I want sending
Its 100cm x 60cm x 70cm and weighs about 15kg...anyone any tips on which courier to go for?0 -

Try someone that takes the bookings by phone as opposed to online.
Thanks

could you suggest a company that does?
also...to readers of this thread... DO NOT use Paisleyfreight ...although they are cheap, the customer service was unbelievably rude...i phoned them up for some simple clarification of something on their website to be faced with a very rude man on the other end of the phone who didn't want to give me more than 5 seconds of his time...he answered the phone very unprofessionaly and hung the phone up on me after showing me a lot of frustration for something which required a simple response...0 -
Just in case anyone else is interested have found www.myhermes.co.uk who quote £10.12 to N. Ireland.
Anyone heard of them?0 -

Hermes are a big courier based in Germany who use small shops and businesses to receive the packages from customers. In other words, you take your package to the local newsagent and the Hermes van picks it up from there. Much more convenient than waiting in all day for a courier like in the UK.
It's cheap too at 8.90 Euro for delivery within Germany for the largest 25kg package size (rates can be lower when sending shop to shop) and all packages are insured up to 500 Euro as standard. Insurance costs in the UK take the p*ss.0 -
Hi There,
I started using Myhermes.co.uk, cheaper than Royal Mail and with insurance on delivery. used to be ParcelNet I understand.
Only within the UK for now.
up to 2Kg £3.99
2-5Kg £6.24
5-10Kg £6.99
10-15Kg £7.99
seems pretty good, everything turns up okay so far anyway. There is a volume (size) restriction, but doesn't seem to bad but worth checking on large packets (they have a checker on the site)
Still looking for a cheaper way of sending smaller weight parcels if anyone has any ideas?0
