  • Blue234bird,

Go around the various door to door firms that are mentioned on this thread and get a quote to see who comes in the best.

Most will need the size of parcel details + your 2kg max weight.
I guess with clothes something like 50x50x15 would be about right.

Thanks for the comment Lopey but it doesn't help much. I've already had a look through the thread but don't know which of the firms in the thread are door-to-door and would accept packages weighing under 2kg, that's why i posted my question.

no company will refuse sub 2KG packages
  • Custary, again thanks for the reply but dosen't really answer my question - i was hoping for more useful info. Luckily another Ebay seller has provided me with some courier companies that are reliable, cheap and would accept < 2kg packages.

ALthough there are courier companies that will accept them, for under 2kg, you have to be sending serious volumes to get a cheaper price with a courier than the royal mail, unless of course you send everything special delivery.

For under 2kg, Royal prices are generally always cheapest.

I have just come to post about this company after seeing their ad on the top of an ebay page; it seems deanos got there before me :) but I must add that it looks like a fantastic idea; I put a dummy location and destination through their on-line store finder and both came out with collection/drop off points less than a mile away and at £3.99 (with smaller dimensions 30x30x50) this is a much more reasonable system for multiple ebay sellers like myself.

Also the biggest advantage I can see at this point in time is offering ebay buyers an alternative delivery method during the multiple postal strikes around the country (a problem which I have already encountered). On their website they offer a html code you can enter into a listing precisely for this purpose. I think it posts a button-add.

They also offer you the choice of contacting the recipient yourself or letting the company send either e-mail or sms updates which I have not seen before.

I will definetly be trying this company in the next few days and will report back with a review.
  • I want to send a parcel to N Ireland, up to 15kgs and 60x30x30cms.

Does anyone know a good price?

    Thanks!

    I can find a quote of £20.19

    Thanks

I send parcels to agents in UK at £8, I need to get it round that or no more than £12 to make it worthwhile sending them to NI.
  • NI is always quite lot more than UK, because most of the carrier price it as Zone 2 (UK offshore, NI and ROI).

Bizarrely, frequently I can get things to France cheaper than Ireland, and that winds me up because I can see Larne from office window!!

I can see why it would be more but, like you, I can't see why it should be soooo much more. Dublin is even worse.
