  • Hi everybody - I wonder if anybody knows how I can send a parcel of 13kg cheaply from the UK to France when I have no UK address (I live in France and I am visiting the UK for a few days and want to send something back to France). I have read about using a courier - but I cannot do a home collection as Im staying in a hotel - and I would prefer not to pay the high charges at the Post Office and Parcelforce - any suggestions?

    Many thanks

Any cheaper alternatives for the following parcel?:

    1.3kg, 95cm x 13cm x 10cm
    Value: £230
Cheapest I can get is transglobalexpress at c.£34 with insurance. Everywhere is so expensive for insurance - some companies want £10+ for £250 when Royal Mail's airsure will do insurance for only £2.20! grrr
So annoying that Airmail won't take it as it is longer than 60cm!

    Any suggestions?

    Advice gratefully received!

Been using a new service at myhermes.co.uk for some of my ebay items recently - prices seem very good, and the service seems fine. They're getting quite a good name for themselves on the ebay forums and elsewhere...

Looking at their prices, your item would cost £7.27 including VAT, signed for and insured up to £250 (insurance costs £2.30 at this value).

Hope this helps... how does this price compare to what TGE offered you?
Can anybody get a better price?

I booked with them last Friday night, got confirmation email within ten minutes. Parcel was picked up on Monday morning and delivered Tuesday morning. No problems here so far, but I'm half-expecting to hear from DHL that they haven't been paid and want the money from me.

Just booked 3 parcels from lowcostparceldelivery service. Got small problem but resolved quickly and friendly!

Reason of problem: They got technical issues with sending emails that cost longer time than normal and emails failed delivery to my email box.

But during the resolve period they provided the good telephone service, friendly explain the problem caused. and fixed all the prblem that we met.

At the end of the problem resolved by lowcostparceldelivery!

That's the turth of my story!!!!!

P.S: Doing my apologise for lowcostparceldelivery for the trouble caused.

Suggest to lowcostparceldelivery work with email system to aviod this problem happened again. Best way provide some other contact method for aviod the problem. Skype may be helpful free and widely used.

Will use your service everyday. Thanks for super low cost service provided!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Yours faithfully

    Be wary of Lowcostparceldelivery.

The contact address he gives on the website, Unit 105 CT3 4NH, is actually the address of Database Power Ltd who are a web design company. Don’t be fooled into thinking Lowcostparceldelivery are actually a registered company at this address. So you actually have no idea where Lowcostparceldelivery are based & no way of contacting them apart from via email. A good start to a scam don’t you think?

The dimensions Lowcostparcedelivery allow for parcel deliveries cause concern. For a start Parcelforce only allow a max length of 150cm & length + girth of 300cm. The max dimensions Lowcostparceldelivery allow would cause big surcharges & make the insurance invalid. DHL may allow dimensions of 160cm, 60cm, 60cm but you will have to pay a lot of money for this service, certainly not £7.50.

So I think either Lowcostparceldelivery are using someone else’s account to make bookings, not caring about surcharges, or they have their own accounts & are running up a huge bill before they do a disappearing act. Check the invoice you get from DHL or Parcelforce & see what the account name is. It would be helpful if you can post it on here.

Directparceldistribution started a scam last time offering cheap prices & a good service before leaving customers with huge fedex bills & uncollected parcels. Now he’s back with Lowcostparceldelivery possibly to do the same again or worse. Problem is this time he will be a little wiser so could cause even more damage.

    You have been warned!

It looks like we already have the usual post from a new member defending them if you look above this post.

    Hello!

Nice to see this thread has become so helpful, for filling it's prime role of answering peoples courier related questions.....

Every cry for help seems to be ignored, and instead we just have spam, spam, spam

Some of the people still posting in here obviously know about parcels, would be too much to ask for you to answer some questions, instead of just filling space with your own self-beneficial hot air?

This thread may as well be deleted.

    Hi,

I have been using DHL for a while now (through payperparcel) but i have been getting a few customers coming back to me saying that their items are damaged ,i make pet housing and as far as i am concerned they are boxed up the best they can be but im getting customers coming back saying that there are foot prints on the top of the box etc! this is even though i put "fragile " on every parcel (or does this make someone think ,ill see how fragile this really is ??) any advice would be great ,as in are DHL known for bad parcel care ??

    Thanks

I wouldn't advise putting fragile on it as it's just asking for trouble. All you can do is look a getting stronger boxes (double walled) and perhaps use internal wrapping as well. DHL are no worse/no better than any of the other mainstream carriers.
It's called myhermes ... myhermes dot co dot uk

Prices start from £3.99 and they will collect from your house and deliver to most of the UK.

I'm helping them launch, so I'm not impartial. I'd be interested to hear what you think of them.

Never again queue at the Post Office to send a parcel.:j

I'll ignore the obvious spamming as this looks reasonably interesting.

    Questions:
    1) what volume do you need to attract that rate?
    2) weight/dimension limits?
    3) do you take ugly traffic?
    4) Is there real time tracking?

How do you get around the issue of couriers damaging in transit and getting refunds?

My buyer had a damaged product, didn't sign for as damaged.

T+C of these companies say they need to be signed as damaged else I don't get a refund-do you ask buyers to sign docketts as damaged as the norm just in case?
You can't, unless you're a big account holder then you can bully them

Having said that, some couriers are better than others. Don't take the first 'no' as gospel, keeping pushing.....I presume you booked through a re-seller?

I need to return something very large which my parents bought on ebay, it arrivedc in very bad condition and the seller said that they would refund if my parents returned it at their own cost ( which personally I think it really bad practice but thats another thread! ).

This is a very large item it weighs 27kg and dimesnions are 122x152x30

The seller origionally charged £25 postage but I am having trouble finding anywhere that charges anywhere near that amount.

My parents have been batteling this out with the seller for a while now and I said I would send it as they have gone away for 3 weeks.

Cany anyone reccomend a courier service that will take such a large parcel for around £25??

    Thanks

For those sort of dimensions nightfreight would be the courier we would use. It costs us £6 for 25kg consignment or £8 for ugly traffic, but I don't know what the rates would be like 'over the counter'.

You've got to be careful here as well, because if it goes to paypal you'll need POD via an accepted method.

Who delivered it in the first place?
hi everyone, can anyone just answer a quick question for me?
i'm looking to send a buggy via courier, and have read back a few pages and have a list of couriers that seem ok from your recommendations.
what i want to ask is, i dont have a printer at home to print the labels for the driver ... so does anyone know the cheapest 48hr courier company where i dont have to print the labels out?
    thanks in advance x

Interparcel's DHL service at £7.99+vat, or payperparcel £6.99 (i think)

Can anyone help me with this.

I have a parcel that I need to send to South Africa and I'm not really sure the best way to send it.

It is quite heavy 4043g including the box, I will probably add a bit of bubble wrap to it when I get some. The dimensions of the box are 38cm x 28cm x 29cm high.

I have never had to send anything like this before so I'm not really sure where to look. The delivery service needs to be a signed for one.

Is there anything I need to know about sending it? This is 13 die cast model cars that someone has bought from us on Ebay. Well more actually as a couple of them are sets of 4.

It is starting to stress me out a bit. The cheapest I think I can find is with Transglobal Express which is £46.86 and uses UPS worldwide. Would this definately be a signed for service as I can't find the info on this.

Shipments bound for non EU countries will need to be accompanied by 3 copies of a commercial invoice or packing list showing a full description and value of the goods for customs purposes.

What do I need to put in for this.

If anyone could help with this I would be so greatful.

Forgot to say if I could pay by paypal that would be even better then I could use the money they have actually paid me for postage, rather than having to use my money and then wait to withdraw from paypal.

TGExpress are/were the cheapest. Have you tried freightsearch and http://www.bananadoo.com/.

Yes the UPS service will be signed for, though if the delivery is done by another agent it may take a few days for it to update and also the signature may not be viewable online.

Commercial invoices are no drama's, very straightforward (keep values low'ish so the buyer doesn't get lumped with high customs fees). Whoever you book the parcel with should create one for you.

parcel2go have dropped their book early and save 30p I see.

    big hike from freightsearch

anything else going on the courier world?
