The prices in the first post are incorrect..
Anyone know where I can get the cheapest price on a approx 40KG parcel, or alternatively two 20KG parcels UK mainland to UK mainland?
Please don't say FreightSearch - had a bad experience recently as documented in the other thread, which they didn't sort out, never mind address in any way.
the price will depend on your parcel dimensions, volume & how much insurance you require. I think it will be cheaper to send two parcels at 20kg each. Here is a list of the current best offers:
parcel2go = £7.81 for DHL 1-3 day with £50 insurance, printer required
100cm max length, 25kg max weight, 0.14 cubic meters max volume
price for same day collection is £8.04, above price if you book 1 day in advance.
payperparcel = £7.99 for DHL 1-3 day with £100 insurance, printer required
120cm max length, 30kg max weight, 0.17 cubic meters max volume
p4d = £8.04 for DHL 1-2 day with £50 insurance,
120cm max length, 30kg max weight, 0.18 cubic meters max volume
shippingmanager = £8.04 for DHL 1-2 day with £50 insurance,
120cm max length, 30kg max weight, 0.18 cubic meters max volume
interparcel = £8.04 for UPS 1-2 day with £50 insurance,
250cm max length, 30kg max weight, 0.18 cubic meters max volume, printer required
interparcel = £9.24 for UPS 1-2 day with £50 insurance ,
250cm max length, 35kg max weight, 0.18 - 0.21 cubic meters max volume, printer required
parcelcheap = £9.50 for DPD next day with £100 insurance,
200cm max length, 30kg max weight, 0.5 cubic meters max volume
www.parcel2go.com have the cheapest standard rate with a DHL 1-3 day service if you book 1 day in advance. The cheapest for same day collection is payperparcel. You have to print labels to use the parcel2go & payperparcel service. Shippingmanager offer a 2.5% discount if you pay by bank transfer so that would make the price £7.84. Parcelcheap use next day DPD & except parcels up to 200cm in length & a max volume of 0.5 cubic meters. Interparcel allow parcel volume up to 0.24 cubic meters & max weight 40kg for their UPS service but any volume over 0.21 or weight over 35kg increases to £10.13. Payperparcel except parcels with a length greater than 120cm but the price increases to £15.97.

Any advice for getting a parcel to Portugal please, its only 3kg and 30cm x 32cm x 10 cm.
I have tried a few links posted on the earlier thread but my main requirement is that i want to drop the parcel off myself to a depot. ie DHL or Parcelforce.WHOOOOSHHHHHHHHH……..
Blimey what was that ?
That was your life mate
Oh I wasn’t quite ready can I have another go ?
Sorry mate only one per person.0 -
Best deals to Portugal are:
https://www.parcelmachine.com with DPD
https://www.interparcel.com with DHL
approx £16 + VAT.
If you want to drop the parcel off at a depot then it's best to use DHL. Make sure you contact your local depot to let them know you will be dropping it off.0 -
If you open an account with Parcel Machine is it 5% off all bookings with them? or just the first?0

Well i'd like to start this new thread with some good news..... i have just received a full refund from Direct parcel distribution, who sadly have disapeared very abruptly. i think its just taking them time to sort out our refunds as i can imagine there are many

I saw a company called Direct Parcel Distribution on this website in december and duly booked a parcel to be sent to the Philippines and paid by paypal (£40.99). Fedex picked up and delivered the parcel. I was shocked to get a bill from Fedex for £218.92. I've queried it with them as the account number for Direct Parcel Dist was put on the waybill as per instructions. Fedex say 'Please be advised that we were unable to bill the account number as per the instructions on the airway bill'. They also say that as the sender we are responsible for payment. To cap it all I weighed the parcel myself at 9.8kg and I was within the required dimensions and have been billed for 15kg.
Anyone had similar problems? Have used other firms before without this problem.
Thanks

I've just had fedex contact us with an invoice for payment as the air waybill supplied by DPD is invalid. looks like we're in the same boat. can you let me know how you get on?
i've emailed fedex basically telling them to chase dpd for the money as my contract was with dpd who then contracted fedex to do the work...
will keep you posted!
Im trying to look into what can be done. Specifically if FedEx can lump a bill at the feet of an un-contracted party, and also whether the new owners have any responsibility.0 -

Slightly strange one this as different agents have different agreements with DHL. For example with SaleTrack you can send up to 1.8m with DHL, but with most others its 1.2m (edit: I think payerparcel may be 1.5m)
Anyway, at this point I was about to suggest Interparcel TITAN which cater for longer items. But just as a did a quote I hovered over their UPS service, and great/very interesting news a) that would be fine for your dimenions b) only £6.99+vat.
UPS/INTERPARCEL NEWS
UPS are regarding by many as the best carrier. Interparcel are offering a UPS 48hr service for £6.99+vat.
Which means for the first time there is cheaper carrier than DHL available through re-sellers.
Interesting to see how this pans out...0 -

1.3kg, 95cm x 13cm x 10cm
Value: £230
Cheapest I can get is transglobalexpress at c.£34 with insurance. Everywhere is so expensive for insurance - some companies want £10+ for £250 when Royal Mail's airsure will do insurance for only £2.20! grrr
So annoying that Airmail won't take it as it is longer than 60cm!Anyone know where I can get the cheapest price on a approx 40KG parcel, or alternatively two 20KG parcels UK mainland to UK mainland?wolvesinwales wrote: »Any advice for getting a parcel to Portugal please, its only 3kg and 30cm x 32cm x 10 cm.

parcelmachine would be with DPD who are very good, but I think their depots are spread out quite thinly, so it might be best to check there is one local to you first. Probably best to book a day in advance too, so you got a chance to notify your local depot that you'll be dropping the parcel off yourself.0 -

Still need another company for the list, unless we have any other entrants in the next day or so, parcelbroker will be on.
First page will also be updated in time, again when I have time. That includes the avoid section. We are also going to have a new system where companies who spam will just have their name filtered out. So not only will some of you have avoid stamped across their logo, but also wont even be able to mention it their after. It's not like you haven't been warned.0 -

Packet Post
1st and 2nd class post 40% cheaper. The stated minimum requirement is 5000 items annually, but the important figure is a £5000 yearly spend. If you do you can look forward to these prices.
