Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?
Still lurking around with a hope of some salvation:cool:

Thanks for all your kind words, and I hope that was a magnum or whatever a big one is Hypno, cos here are a couple of dozen straws :D

On Saturday we had a 24 hour power cut
It went off again on Sunday :mad:
And again 8am Monday morning :mad::mad:
    And 7am this morning :mad::mad::mad::mad:

I laboriously (sp?) dial the 0800 number from a telephone with a wheel on the front, cannot press appropriate numbers but eventually get a recorded message saying "we KNOW there is a power cut in your area and our engineers ARE dealing with it, we WILL restore power as soon as we can"

And I'm wondering if we can withhold payment and say "we know you haven't been paid, we ARE looking into it, and you WILL be paid when we have sorted it" ?

edited to add: the power cut should explain why I have rudely ignored your kind replies until now :o

Angst. Know it well - and sympathise in the extreme, espec for poor DD, hope she's turned a corner.

she's on anti depressants, and refusing to see a psychiatrist as she "feels fine now"
I worry that the feeling fine is down to the tablets, and hasn't dealt with the underlying cause, Popeye said she should avoid seeing a psychiatrist if she can manage without, as that will be with her for the rest of her life "Have you ever....."

We've talked a lot, she and me. I heartily hope that I'm a help to her recovery, and not a hindrance, :o (if you really knew me, you would understand how irritating I can be :rotfl:)

For the 5th day in a row we have powercuts :mad: this time at 7.10 am, before I could get in the shower

On the other hand, when I got home last night EDF had written to each occupier in the street asking for details of the person to whom the £50 cheque should be made payable :j (No Prejudice :rotfl:)

No explanation of why we lost power for 24 hours on Saturday, 2 power cuts of a few hours on Sunday and Monday, a power cut yesterday morning and again today

Excess on my freezer contents insurance is £100 :eek: Maximum payout for my size of freezer £1,500 :rotfl: But How do I value nearly 40 pots of home made stock? HM "mystery soup"? and HM ready meals?
On the other hand, we're having the 800g Langoustines for supper tonight which I got dead cheap in Lidl, but would elsewhere have been valuable. They'll have no idea of the bargains I've just lost/had to eat but they will value them at Sainsburys full price. ;)

Interesting (and honest!) list of freezer contents done.

And it has made for interesting meals this week:
Curry from some very nice steak :D for breakfast this morning :rotfl:
