I haven't posted, but SO much has been going on.
Popeye is in a state of flux over his job. It all changes in October when he has completed his 2 years ( :eek:it's gone so fast).
If he stays his contract changes and he'll be paid less. But indications are that there is nothing wonderful to come home to, which is what he'd hoped for......
I have been offered a small job out there.
We could manage financially, if the last credit card (£6500) was gone.
These things point towards me going out there.
And then his landlord said that he would like to have the house back.......
He's given him notice to quit at the end of the year.
Popeye loves that house, he's really settled there, has got just what he needs too.
The new contract would not have in it's budget moving costs.....only moving back home costs.
These things indicate that I should stay here until there are more answers.

Errrr bit of a dilemma. Personally i would give it a go and see how it pans out, there is nothing to lose and everything to gain. So work hard to get rid of CC and have a new lifestyle for a bit.Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?

More people are saying to me GO than STAY.
So why do I resist?
(all that work in the garden, all those seedlings? and of course My aged P's)
Pa has e-mailed me to say they've a bottle of gin for my next visit(I'm doing a day trip, so won't be having any, but they try so flipping hard to make it nice for me as they appreciate it so much
)

Hmm......so many decisions, and big ones at that.
If you went out there, but then decided to come home for whatever reason (end of contract, boredom, wanting to be nearer family or whatever), how easy would it be for you to get employment here again, given the current employment situation? It is one thing you need to consider more now than perhaps a couple of years ago.
Lots of brainstorming to be done.......but at the end of the day, I would just say go with what feels right, whatever that may be, and hang what anyone else might say!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
I'm off to a bath now, as the central heating now works :j:j
And because we couldn't prove what date the boiler was put in (original plumber no longer plumbing) they decided to do it under warranty:j:j:j:beer: We're pretty sure it is about 6 months out of warranty
And I'll cogitate, but the only people who would really be against me going are my p's.and I can't quite ignore them. I'm sure they'd be saying "you do what is right for you" whilst inwardly feeling abandoned.

All clean now, we won't have to stand down wind any more then?:rotfl:
It is difficult for you with aged P's, some heart renching decisions to be made either way:oBlackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?

Thanks, I hope you don't mind me banging on about this.
But 6 years ago the aged P's moved to a remote village to be round the corner from older brother. All was sorted and we relaxed.
3 years ago older brother & family moved away - a career opportunity he didn't want to miss out on. They are only 30 mins away......but........Aged P's are lucky if they see him 5 mins in a week
I go (1 1/2 hours away) about once a fortnight, unless other bro or my sis are visiting (even further away). Alternating a day trip and an overnighter.
If I was in Africa I'd fly back every couple of months for a week or so, but I just don't feel that is a good substitute for what I can do here. (it's like parenting children, they don't want "quality time" they want easy access)
But Popeye and me are *hating* being apart0 -
Perhaps a conflab with brothers and families to see if a compromise can be made.It may help ease your mind a bit.Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?

Not really doing much today, got up really late
though I am washing sheets now, and they'll go on the line.
Memorial service this afternoon (I didn't go to the funeral yesterday as it was some distance and I've been unwell this week) but although I've been invited out for a meal afterwards I shall cry off blaming my dicky tummy(means I shan't spend anything - but I am feeling a little (peedie?) sorry for myself
) I really need to curb the spending this month, I hope my will power is sufficient to say no.
Off to visit Aged P's tomorrow, they'll feed me, but it costs in petrol. They need their garden dug a bit (I won't say "what about mine?")
As for my seedlings, the carrots I planted out (in toilet rolls) in my raised bed have died, I hope the next lot don't. Something has been chomping my broad beans  and most of the shrub cuttings we took are looking "tired" These green-fingers just don't exist for meI told ma-in-law, she may put a stick in the ground and it will grow into a healthy plant, give me a healthy plant and I'll soon turn it into a stick :rotfl:
