I thoroughly agree Bob and Pepe.
Been there got the stained t-shirt.

Trouble is, within a relationship, money is often power.
My ex was as controlling as he could possibly be, and became spiteful, vindictive and a complete lump of poo over money when I started divorce proceedings. He left me with a 3 yr old and 6 day old and a "housekeeping cheque" while he went ski-ing for 2 weeks. Trouble was in those days I only had a building society account and the cheque took NINE working days to clear.
The best thing I ever did was get away from him, though he has never forgiven me :rotfl:
In the following 18 years he took every opportunity to muck me about over money, and only once did I complain to the kids that we were in trouble because Dad's money hadn't arrived. I regretted it almost immediately, and they were little enough to repeat it to Dad........

And now? His money dealings with his children are exactly that and nothing to do with me :D The kids aren't daft, and they have very little respect for him, but do admire his money  (he's on a 6 figure salary now)

And he has NO power over me at all. MoT, one day that will be true for you and then you will know that freedom.

But a hint, get the kids to ask for their guitar bag themselves........;)

Thanks Olive, BOB and Pepe, I totally agree with you all!

Tried getting the kids to ask but they won't as they seem to be frightened of him/afraid he will say no. So its always left to me and as he isn't paying maintenance at the moment it is even more difficult to ask as he is pleading poverty! He ought to try living my life for a while then he'd see how hard it is to bring up 2 kids on our money!

Enough ranting - the future is bright, the future is my new job and then I won't have to claim benefits and will be about £300 a month better off :j

Hope you all have a lovely day, I've got to go to a wood yard or suchlike and get some more slats cut for DS's bed as he jumped on it a while back and has broken 2 or 3 slats, so when he's sleeping he sort of sags downwards - no wonder he has a bad back :D

Dear mot, take Adam with you, so HE asks for the timber, explains etc. It's all good man-to-man stuff for him and appreciation of actions having consequences.
Let him do the measuring up first, with you - try B&Q, Homebase etc. to begin.
To any who think my line is a little brisk and interferey - YES, YES of course it is, with much love for all concerned.

What a good idea Ampersand!! :T:T The 'man of the house' will feel very important then. As you may have guessed I haven't been to get the wood yet, my day panned out differently to what I expected

    You're opening a bouteille, OO?
(I think Fliss and Adam know me well enough now, while mot and I continue the process happily)
I go months without drinking a thing, 'cos without company of empathetic kind, it has no appeal.
This does, of course, mean I'll be pouring away chez mot.

Today was a lovely view of the new Kettle's Yard exhibition, with their usual free Thurs. lunchtime talk. It's one to return to.

No, no mot - don't do it!

    So today I have/will:
    • brought in lunch. (the sprout soup *gulp* :o )
    • store cupboard supper
    • scratch
    • I will list 10 things on e-bay as I have been challenged/told to :p
    • will transfer a balance to another 0% because I hadn't noticed it had expired  But I have a virgin offer.
    • look for mystery shop assignments.
    • up-date my spreadsheets & do on-line banking now that I know my payrise :D
    Here's my update:
    • the sprout soup was bitter - any suggestions to reduce the bitterness? I have FOUR more portions :rotfl:
    • cooking now -the chicken is a bit iffy, but if it is too iffy that will help my weight loss :o :rotfl: :rotfl:
    • 10p :j :j :j (and I found 1p in the car park today.:j )
    • sorted stuff, but still camera-less :o but a step in the right direction?
    • looked out the virgin paperwork......
    • nothing suitable on the MS sites. No point in travelling somewhere to do one, any profit'd be wiped out.
All in all I'm not making much progress :o
Could do better- boy has that been a familiar phrase in my life :rotfl:

I saw that news report, and thought of MoT, but had no idea how to post the link - thanks Ampersand.

Popeye thinks you might be near where we once had a VERY PLEASANT break. I went on a writing course, he went to look at a very high bridge/pass/road thingy which was an exciting engineering feat apparently.

The entire week was one long drink and chat athon :rotfl:
