good luck with the lodger!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0

Good luck with the lodger OliveLodger arrives tomorrow - I'll have to be on my best behaviour then
How can I lose a couple of stone in 3 weeks? I need to look fab on the beach :rotfl: )
How to lose 2 stone in 3 weeks.....................umm if you find out the answer please be sure to post it on here as I would like to do the same
Have a good day and hope that the tension at work has disappeared now xxChristians Against Poverty - www.capuk.org0 -
Lodger is seriously easy going. She hates cooking, so I get that job, which is good because
a) I quite like cooking and b) I get to control the budget
When I told her that I'd cleared DD's mountain she said "I only need a bed and a wardrobe, don't worry" One of my anxieties is that the 1 - 1 1/2 hours I spend on Skype with Popeye in an evening will be interrupted/curtailed. But I suppose then I could actually get things done :rotfl: :rotfl:
We think this will be short term, when she gets herself sorted (her Dad died, her Mum is now in a nursing home and the family home sold to pay for the nursing home place  ) she'll want to move out and be independent. So we're thinking 6months to a year. Which is absolutely perfect for us
The diet is failing abysmally. There is still an open tin of Belgian Chocolate biscuits which I'm working my way through and last night I scoffed ALL the snacks I'd bought for the weeks packed lunches

Hmmmm I really don't want masses of rules for this poor lodger. But when I explained all the recycling system there was a look of sheer panic on her face :rotfl: It was only when I listed:
- paper in the blue box
- organic & vegetable matter in the compost bucket
- glass in the big black box
- cardboard in the green bin
- plastic and tins in the small black box
- Freecycle for much else
So this morning when I get up (she leaves before I wake
) and found lights on all over the house I wondered how "green" or "mean" I am prepared to look :rotfl: :rotfl: She'd left more lights on than I have on when I'm awake and moving around. She's a sensitive soul, so I imagine when she sees me turning lights off all the time she'll get into the same habit - I'm hoping
I've been de-cluttering, and it makes me feel soooo good
Yesterday I could even wear novelty socks (Betty Boop) instead of grey woolly because I had cleaned out my sock drawer (Sundays declutter) and I found them at the back
I'm doing a lttle something everyday. Took an old cupboard to the tip on the way to work this morning. It'd been annoying me for months on the patio, I emptied it and it's gone
So today I shall/have:- brought in lunch and a snack
- charged phone at work
- found 10p on a machine at the gym last night :j :rotfl:
- do on-line banking
- make brussel sprout soup (I've found a recipe which apparently tastes good
) to use up old-ish sprouts. - NSD (apart from my budgeted 20p at drama tonight).
-I'm refusing to order OH a new book from Amazon, even though I have a £5 voucher because I don't want to ruin my NSD run, and I want to beat him
(he did 4 last week, we drew) - supper from the fridge tonight, whatever needs using up.
- Do my scratchcard.

It is a hard one that. You want to gain a little extra dosh from having a lodger and everyone needs to be conscious of bills etc.
Howabout saying something casual about energy saving lightbulbs? If you have them already fair enough but talk about replacing them.
I think this morning could have been a touch of disorientation at being in a different house..there is always leaving stickers on about switching off lights when not using as well.Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?

:rotfl: :rotfl: at leaving stickers on the light switch.
Reminds me of the hint to students in a shared home: put a notice on the fridge door saying "Warning, I LICK my food"
All the bulbs are energy saving, it amounts to pence. But then, I'm a regular poster on the "what small DFW things" thread, and we know that every little helps
Maybe it was dark when she left for work, it's so light when I get up/leave that I don't bother putting lights on at all

:rotfl: We used to do that when we lived at home:eek: My brother's were pigs and didn't care if you had licked it:o
You could be right about that( dark when leaving) and i know what i am like in a strange place, it takes me a couple of days to orienatate myself ..especially with light switches:rolleyes:Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?
