Thanks a lot for the advice. I have put them back in the drhydrator and they seem a lot better now. Also think I may have packed them when they were still a little warm.....so will let them cool fully before packing again. We don't need to do it perfectly - good enough is exactly that GOOD ENOUGH.0

It is definitely worth doing the dehydrating. This weekend I wanted bramleys, onions and peppers. I would normally have had to drive three miles each way but they were nicely stashed in a dried form in a cupboard and they did just the job.
Another big thing for me is how little space the dehydrated foods take up
I can`t wait to get going on freshly picked berries this year. I used to have two big freezers and froze my own produce but now I have moved and I have a tiny freezer and I`ll have to go to pick your own but this is a biggie for me as I can`t live without berries. Long live dehydrators0 -
Have done some (what should have been apple crisps and also banana chips) and they have both come out like leather.
Wanted them like you get in the shops...all lovely and crisp.
What have I done wrong??When life throws you lemons...put them in a gin and tonic !!0 -
Commercial banana chips are banana slices that are fried in oil, coated in honey and then dried.
Home dehydrated banana slices will taste different but are scrummy all the smae and much healthier.
I presume commercial apple chips are processed somehow as well and not simply dehydrated.
You could try dehydrating tha pples longer to make them crisper...probably the bananas too but in any case they won't be like the shop-bought dried bananas."Finish each day And be done with it.
You have done what you could.
Some blunders and Absurdities have crept in.
Forget them as soon as you can."

has anyone got the fruit leather sheets?
do you think the reusable nontick liners like Lakeland sell would do the trick?"Finish each day And be done with it.

You must have read my mind. :j I've been on the Tchibo and QVC sites this week to see if the dehydrators were back in stock. No luck. They also go for a bomb on ebay.
Think I'll give this a go. If it's not as good as the Tchibo one then I'll sell it on ebay.0
