Hi Lesley
The soak I've found that works the best for apples is 1/4 cup of lemon juice to 1 cup of water.
Carrots, beans etc blanch for 2 mins first, bananas are nice just done as they are..most fruit and veg needs to be sliced 1/8" thick and is done when its still slightly bendy but not tacky HTH Dee0 -
I don't bother with the lemon juice for my apples ... OH practially eats them as they come off the dehyrator  (so much for trying to get a store cupboard together!).
Did some trays of apples today and I had great difficulty in getting him NOT to eat the apples as he was putting them into the jar! He really does not get the idea of why we are drying and preserving them. He sees them as snacks :rolleyes:Enjoying an MSE OS life0 -
A post on Angelina-Ms blog has made me want to get one of these!
I've searched on the Tchibo website and can't find one.
I think the dried mushrooms and tomatoes sound fab, as does having fruit leathers, apple rings and dried mango. I live near a big Indian supermarket and when they have the Pakistani mangoes in, wrapped in gold ribbon and tissue paper, I just drool. They go off so quickly so a dehydrator would be amazing!0 -

I dont know when Tchibo are having them in again, they are a bit like Aldi in that they change stock every week. For now though you can just use your oven on a low heat.
The other night I opened a tin of mushrooms and whizzed them in my magimix to get the lumps out. Added some tomato puree and homemade tomato sauce and let it simmer down until it was quite thick then I added some dried mushrooms, garlic, celery and a fresh grated carrot and a few onions and it made the best pasta sauce ever!
And thank you for posting on my blog, its appreciated. :A0 -
does anyone on here have the manual for the Magic Chef food dehydrator? I know it's American made but I can't find one anywhere.0

Does anyone have either of the above? The descriptions seem almost the same, same diameter and same power. Any further info would be welcome. THe one seems to have had a very big price cut. The prices seem very different for two items that look almost the same."Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"
