Jamtart, you will find strength that you never knew you had to help you cope with what's happening. Things will be tough and difficult and if you feel like crying then do it, it's best to get it out. Make sure you keep talking because it will help your head figure out what's happening. I've lost both of my grandad's to cancer and my mum was diagnosed with breast cancer last year. She's had 2 operations and now at a crossroads whether to have a mastectomy. I've so far stayed strong for her and come home and cried on OH shoulder and talked on here to lots of lovely people on the Card Making thread. Life is so unfair but full of great things too and at this very sad time also remember your great times with your grandad x

I signed up to do the Race for Life this year mainly because of what's happening with my mum. My race will be more like a slow snail crawl to the finish line but I want to do it and hope to raise lots of money along the way.

scattymam - love your scrapbook page, gorgeous colours

paddington - your cards are fab, I've made a couple of box cards and think they are fab. Going to have a go at one of these exploding box cards, posted on Card Making thread by the fab saveapenny.

So jealous of you rusty and bunbun at meeting up - what about me??? I could sort of act as the middle-aged one between the two of you as I'm 34 ;) Do tell us how you got on, where you met, what you did etc etc...

    Enjoy the dolphins furrypig!

  • There really is a lotta love on this thread - I love it!!

plm Thank you so much for explaining a bit about scrapbooking, I took a longer look at your blog last night and it is fab, you have a great little family too, made me think looking at your blog that I must get more organised with pics of my brood before they have all gone and grown up!! (ds is just 7 and dd's are nearly 3)

I have ordered an album kit from ebay and also last night (very naughty and not all that mse) I ordered a load of bits from a seller on there , glue, sticky dots, papers, toppers and stuff all coming in at just under £16 (there was free delivery on orders over £15 and I am a sucker for a free delivery lol) anyways can't wait to get the stuff now so I can get started...I have used my ebay neutral funds for this stuff though which makes me feel a whole lot better...

Sorry to hear about all you guys and your losses, I havn't lost anyone for a very long time (my grandad 27 yrs ago) but my Dad is pretty ill at the moment, just diagnosed with a liver disease and pancreatitis (not alcohol related) and he suffers with copd so I do really worry about him..

Paddington your boxes look fab, I will have to see if I can see how they are done.....

    Have a good day all

  • I've already got that box page saved in my favourites rusty - will have a go when I have a spare evening - just remembered DD is away for a night on a school trip in a couple of weeks :j.

She was upset last night as I sent her to bed before I started my box and she wanted to watch - her idea of watching is to stand about 2 inches away and talk constantly though :rotfl:.

I bought the box in a pack of 5 from craftwork cards at the papercraft extravaganza in Harrogate last year - quite expensive for what they are - will try and do a step by step guide as they are basically an 18cm square scored at 6 cm intervals both ways to make 9 squares with the corners cut off the corner squares and those triangles scored again on the opposite side so they fold in. Not sure that makes sense but I know what I mean :rotfl:

Right I am back but if I carry on replying to every single person in the world I am going to be here all day!! LOL Hello EVERYONE!!

    few last ones:
Choc orange, I ordered some thickers from them and they came yesterday lol aren't we naughty!! 30% off though ;) I loved all of the tissue paper and bows it was brilliant!!

Furrypig I am so glad you are now having a nice time, I can't wait to have you back.. I really missed you! I hope you get some good shots of the dolphin for me to see!! You are definitely living an exciting life right now I am so jealous!!

Rainmac Well done on signing up for that I am so in awe of you and I hope that it makes you feel amazing even if just for one day x

Orchid I made an order here:http://www.creativecraftworld.com/epages/creativecraftworld_com.sf as it is currentely 30% off and free postage over 10 pounds. Well done on taking the plunge and buying some things :D I must take around 500 photographs a month (thank the lord for the external hard drive) and I find it hard to delete even the blurry ones. The best thing I ever did was to invest in a good camera. Once you start carrying it about and get into the routine of taking pictures, you can't stop!!

I have just been to www.change4life.com I have seen their posters around town and thought they were very condescending. "How many times does your child end up in the snack tin for dinner" and things like that. I received a leaflet today about it and by answering a few questions you will receive an action plan and a packet of 'SNAP' cards with health tips on. I thought it would be worth a read.

So sorry to hear about your awful time with cancer&family. It is actually awful to think so many people have been through it before. I'm feeling a lot better today thanks to all you guys! :D:A I think I may rope my cousin in to Race for Life, hilarious as both of us are SO unfit but well worth the cause :) edit: you'd better all sponsor me :p not very MSE but its worth it :D

Paddington - where did you get your idea for the box?

:ABeing Thrifty Gifty again this year:A

  • I LOVE THIS THREAD!!! I sit here for a break & its better than reading a mag (even a card making mag!), you can literally feel the warmth.

Paddington, You have inspired me with your exploding card idea - that is my plan for tomorrow, make an exploding box instead of a card for OH & make it to fit the lil devil I've got him.

PLM, you know you'll have to keep popping back in to see what people have said, lol

Nice to see some new names basking in the warmth of this thread.
You cant take a step forward with both feet on the ground
  • PLM - Thanks for your note - I promise you don't sound at all crazy at all on your blog - you sound (and look) lovely xx :A
  • the box itself is this one but if you meant the decoration it just popped into my head when I was flicking through my cutting dies - probably from something i saw somewhere and my brain filed away :rotfl:

Decided I should really use some of the new dies I bought in the sizzix sale - the jigsaw pieces :o.

It's all easier now I've tidied all my stuff up so most of it is in the same room :D

Have fun with the box sylph I actually quite enjoyed making it - even though I'd been putting it off as I hate to make things under pressure like that
