  • When we first moved in here all we had was a sofa, a kettle and a bed

You had a sofa - how luck were you!:rotfl:

When I moved into my current house (after divorce) I had two sun loungers in the lounge and I borrowed a blow up mattress from a friend.

That was nearly four years ago, and I will say I've kind of filled the house (and loft) up since then

pinkladymel - you made me laugh, my new netbook was my christmas present off my dad - he was very generous this year only had to put £20 of my own cash into getting it - it is great - I don't have to feel guilty for nipping out the room while dd's engrossed in something else while I run to the kitchen and scan the threads/sites fast before she shouts for something.:D and I can play on it in bed on an evening all cosy while hubby is on the xbox downstairs.

It was an in law who said I was too old - no prizes for guessing which in law!?

furrypig - you made me laugh too -
I love the idea of a virtual hen night for jammy - or some virtual baby showers - sounds geekishly fun!:T

Thanks guys - I mean of course I'm not too old - my mam had me when she was 40 but my husbands mam had him when she was about 16/17! hence the comment...

aurora I wish I had the patience and the brain power to be as efficient as you! My house needs rennovating I don't know about my jungle garden!! You will have to keep us updated with piccies of your 'yield' :T

Mel - thank you for lovely words. but I am afraid I am not really that efficient, I learn new stuff everyday - especially from my own mistakes. My plan came out of necessity and the plan is to enjoy life as it is now even though it takes a lot of effort and planning to stick to budget, have the time to check out offers (where to shop for less) and keep reading the MSE forum. I learnt quite a bit so far from the grocery challenge thread, the storecupboard challenge, the recipe collection and the live on £4000 a year. But there is so much more to get through - I wish I had the time. I am so happy that there is a place for getting a sound advice and there are so many people on the forum who have plenty of common sense and are very helpful. I am happy qype-ing :-) - it's good fun. Haven't had the time to check out the surveys sites although I joined the realfreesamples uk and I had my first email from them - if I want to join Toluna ??? Have to research it a bit more, I am very cautious with my personal details as I had the "usual" bad experience when someone!!! used my details (oooh long story but it wasn't good).
Anyhow, I liked your say on men and women - well put!!! :T:T:T

    Hello all!!!!!!!!!

    How are we???

Thanks for letting me have a minor moan and wise words there from PLM!! :)

Tonight could have been awful. Was going to leave it until 7pm to leave work to miss the traffic as it was looking bad out of the window at 6pm. Our building made some god awful noise (a nice 1980s tower block) as I was on the top floor, and someone else said "oh dont worry it was probably just something falling off, it always happens" then the snow was about 1ft deep, so it was (a)stuck in the traffic (b) stuck in the snow (c) stuck in the crumbling building for the night! - I opted to take a chance and took me 1.5hrs to get home...but at least I got home all in one piece!

Well we are definitely going to camp in our new house on v-day! :) the walls are red (not by choice!) so it is very scenic! Think we'll have a great laugh!! :)

  • Evening all!

Wise words plm - I've even tested your men theory - I left the washing basket full of wet washing across the kitchen door - what did he do? Moved it out of his way to get past then put it back :rotfl:.

I also say nothing when my face says I'm really teed off with x y & z - am getting better at spilling it but what has been successfully been winding me up for hours in my head usually sounds really stupid out loud :o.

Backfired on him this morning as he hadn't noticed the white shirt washing fairy had been ill over the weekend so he had to scrabble round for shirts before he manfully drove to Newcastle while I rang and said I wasn't going to risk driving 25 miles to work - in my defense the hill out of the village was closed and I would have had to go 15 miles in the opposite direction first to get there make sure I could get back in time for DD and then make the time up. I work from home Tues - Fri so not much difference really.

Glad things are better jamtart - you 2 sound perfectly normal to me - mrjam2b is probably still in shock bless him :p
Officially a non-smoker but still rounder than recommended :p

    mrJam2B sounds lovely :D

Paddington Oh!!!! PMSL!! I can't believe you are running these experiments on your husband LOL it is BRILLIANT. I let silly things build up too but what he doesnt understand is that something silly like walking past the wash basket could equal a massive load for me to get done when I need to do other things and then me missing out on any time for me. MEN!!

Jammy You missed my most important nugget of information.. the most amazing thing.. making a hole in the mash for gravy... :o

Aurora Your plan sounds amazing and I hope that with all the forums you have to read every day you don't think this thread is a waste of time.. I seem to chat innane rubbish rather than help people being thrifty.. oops. Living life sounds brilliant to me :) x

scattymam I want the virtual hen night too but I doubt our lovely jamster will be on here lol I sit on my pc in the bedroom whilst husband is on the xbox.. hmm.. must be infectious?? he thinks I am being lovely to him letting him play but really I am happy dancing for some peace to read moneysavers :p

furrypig How long is it now until you go? HOW EXICITING!!!! I wish you was taking me with you sob sob. Don't you go forgetting me!! I am not puke lady mel or pee myself lady either today :D

bikerchick I was living the luxury life.. a bed AND a sleeping bag. In hindsight I was a very prililedged tramp and I hope I didn't offend you with my tale of pity and woe :D:D
