Not yet made the cut (I think) and ran the software but no luck it just says power on phone which I do then it hangs. Thought it might be the serial cable tried the address book software that did not work at all. Looked on ebay for more serial cables, while doing this saw some other Siemen software on the site which I downloaded and that works with the phone. So not sure if the cable IS an issue after all. Reluctant to make futher attempts on cutting deeper into the PCB. Also thought it might be the software installation (IYKWIM)

Will post some close up images of the cut, waiting to get some close up filters for the camera!

Its not an urgent project for me still using my trust A50. My contract SIM is Orange so just doing this to learn.

Been a bit distracted with other bits and bobs recently work stuff
