I had mine for about 2 weeks, so not sure if I qualify under the "lived" with the phone?
Anyway, I found it to be overall OK. Slightly too big in the respect that it's hard to use with one hand.. internet was fine on it.. not amazingly easy to use as you've got a start menu so it could get quite complicated. Emails, you can set them up so they retrieve them every X minutes.. videos, didn't test really.
I personally sold mine and purchased a BB 8900, never looked back.0 -
I would like to get this handset but wanted to go with Vodafone. (am currently on T Mob).
As they dont have that handset can I get the combination I want via CPW, Phones4U or any other 3rd party company?0 -
Hi Cindy,
This is the phone I'm after. I've looked and can only find it on O2 (via CPW) or directly from Orange. The little use I've had of it so far has got me very impressed. Oh, apart from Windows Mobile crashing with problems in Services.exe - but I've been working with MS software for so long, I take that kind of thing for granted!

I am upgrading this month. I am currently on O2 so I guess I will get offered the nokia 5800. I want a touch screen phone but have seen the touch hd and think it looks brilliant. Has anyone got one on here who can give some honest feedback on what the phone is like? I need a pda type phone really and have also seen the xperia x1 but seen mixed reviews - what is it like?
Any help really appreciated as I can upgrade on Saturday but happy to change network etc for the right phone/deal.0 -
Hi Scottfw,
I've just got a Touch HD and it's superb. My current phone is an O2 XDA Exec, which all of a sudden looks / runs like something Moses would have used....
The screen is superb, Windows Mobile 6.1 + TouchFlo are a real joy; it's fast and looks great. As per my other thread, I haven't actually managed to make phone calls (!) but if you want a lovely interface with most of the iPhone niceties + you want Windows Mobile to let you run Sat Nav etc., this I'd certainly recommend this.
Just one point - you can get the Touch HD on O2, via the Car Phone warehouse (although you'll need to wait for it to come back into stock), so if you want to stick with O2, then maybe that's the best approach. Alternatively, you could move to Orange (the only other provider supporting this phone at the moment), but then you risk coverage problems (see my current thread on this problem!).
Hope this helps.
Regards

personally if your lookign for that kind of phone, as ncie as the touch hd is, id go for the omnia.
The touch hd is lovley, looks gorgous but after a few days iwth one i found that it scratches/chips far too easilly, gps has a huge lag on it which renders it pointless unless you drive incredibly slow. Music and video tend to stutter on it aswell.
After looking through the xda forums (the hd touch is also known as the xda blackstone), it appears this is to do with qualcom the maker of the chips not providing drivers to htc.
The omnia does everythign the touch can do, but better. Smoother, faster and the only real downside is the slightly smaller screen and the crappy design that doesnt seem to have a slot for the stylus meaning it is on some sort of charm type attachment!
However if you do not want to use the touch hd for games, gps or videos/music then id go for it as browsing the internet on it with that gorgous screen was awsome.
Grammer/spelling might be bad here but ive rushed this as im leaving in a min.Waddle you do eh?0 -
Cheers for the replies. I am really looking for something that will let me browse my hotmail account for business emails as well as getting my personal emails on the move but with the big screen browsing that a touch screen offers. This is why the nokia 5800 wont do it for me I think as that seems to be primarily a music player only with a touch screen.
I also use MS docs in work a lot so the ability to work on them on my phone would be brilliant. I have seen a couple of vids of the touch hd and it seems to be a brilliant bit of kit. The GPS stuff will only be needed this summer when I do a bit of mountain walking so not really bothered by quick gps abilities. What is it like as a music player?0 -
You could try here:
http://www.expansys.com/
Just about every mobile pre-Uk-release you can find on there and for every occasion.
Any help, opinions, views I may hold those are my own. Respect them as you would expect the same in return. Offered freely, is gleaned from a lifetime of experiences, knowledge gaining. Passed on to benefit others. I may be direct, ask you questions but those are to help you. Up to you if you choose to take it. I won't judge you either way.
