Can anyone help please?? its broken!

Hi,

I have a dell windows PC Its around 4 years old.

I have always kitted it out with Martins free anti virus links AGV 7.5 being on at the moment.

I have just switched it on and it appears to be broken. It has a bubble coming from the windows bar saying I have a security problem.

Several windows are popping from antivirus 2009 saying I have 19 infections. It will not allow me to click on my computer or he control panel when I do all the icons disappear from my desktop for a few seconds and it does not do anything. same whn I try and get into my docs.

It appears to want $49 to fix it.

The internet has http://ad.ajgf.net/media/16 running along side it and keeps throwing me out or saying blocked.

I have tried to download AVG 8 but it says i am not connected to the internet!

I am using my laptop for this post

Any suggestions?????

Nikki

Assuming you can still get on the net
Download MALWAREBYTES (makes sure you click 'DOWNLOAD NOW')
    http://www.download.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html
    UPDATE and FULL scan
Post the log here after its deleted whatever it finds

if you CANT get on the net. Start your computer and keep pressing F8 until the SAFE mode screen comes up.
Select SAFE MODE WITH NETWORKING then download malwarebytes and run in safe mode

either way. After that, reboot then download HIJACK THIS
    http://www.download.com/Trend-Micro-HijackThis/3000-8022_4-10227353.html
SCAN and post the log so we can see whats going on

7.5 AVG is now obsolete by the way
Uninstall it and install AVIRA or AVAST instead

if i remember the "antivirus 2009" programme is a virus its self and its got on your PC superantispyware free version should get rid of this for you here
as aliEnRIK has stated get some up to date anti-virus installed AVG.8 AVIRA and firewall etc etc.Sister in law had the antivirus 2009 and superantispyware got rid of it for her

    Antivirus
2009 is a new rogue anti-spyware program. It is also a clone of Antivirus 2008 - also a rogue, and one that's produced more clones than any other recently. The list of these clones is long: System Antivirus 2008, Ultimate Antivirus 2008, Vista Antivirus 2008, XP Antivirus 2008 etc.

Like any other of it's predecessors, Antivirus2009 uses trojans, such as Zlob or Vundo, to spread. These trojans lurk in websites disguised as video codecs, and, upon entering the system, floods the user with popups and fake system notifications, supposedly to inform him of an infection.Antivirus 2009 is a scam and should be treated as such: do NOT download or buy it and block it's websites using your HOSTS file.

Think I already downloaded it earlier when I thought it was a windows anti virus. It has created an icon on the desktop as well as little icons on the menu bar. The icon is the same symbol as the windows shield.

I have turned on the pc and it gets to my desk top screen and when I click on the internet icon i get an egg timer. Been ike this for 10 mins. Will not let me click on anyhing.

Nothing happens when I click F8.

    Anything else I can do?

Right I have discovered by turn off pc at the harddrive button that I needed to press F8 straight away

I have now got in on safe mode and am down loadin the above.

It would not allow me to go on superantispyware kept bringing the u are not connected to the net screen up.

I will update findings when its finished.

    Thanks

if you have a rough idea when it started use the system restore in Windows to go back to before that date. That can help.

Once Malware gets in it can (and does) block access to real Antivirus sites. You may be able to get round it by downloading the files on a a different PC, but usually you'll find there are all sort of other issues. If you go to START RUN and type REGEDIT see what happens, it if opens close it, you should not play with the registry, but sometimes you'll find you are locked out of your own registry and that's when it gets to be fun.
It can also activly stop antivirus software running.

Unfortunatly a lot of the free Antivirus solutions are OK to detect virus's but not so great once ones in, there solution is buy the full version of the software.

Ask you bank if they do anything, HSBC do free Mcaffee, Barclays do free Kasparsky, both are full versions.

I would advise AGAINST using system restore at this stage as they usually inject trojans into them.

Once youve posted the hijack log
Download SUPERANTISPYWARE in normal mode (id assume you will be able to once malwarebytes has run)
    http://www.download.com/SUPERAntiSpyware-Free-Edition/3000-8022_4-10523889.html
UPDATE and scan with that. Then do a fresh hijack log :)
