Claire21be careful you don't overdo things. If you are not used to physical exercise then easy and slow should be the motto.

Remember it is the Paul McKenna program you are following not Paul McKenna and X,Y and Z. Stick with Paul for the first few weeks and then ease into an exercise regime.

    Good advice,
Who I am is not important. What I do is.

    Im still here.

Had to rush my gran to hospital Last week and then find a care home for some respite for her till I sort a care package for home, now woke up with a cold and sore throat.

So Paul McKenna eating at a table and savour food like a goumet went out the window with hospital sandwiches and crisps for breakfast lunch and tea for 3 days!

I hope my cold is just a short thing as I have no energy to do anything today, plus one of the kids threw up just as he got to school today.

A bit like the week fom hell for me, sorry to not be more upbeat.
  • Hope you feel better soon Claire and your gran too. Have been reading your posts + you've inspired me to give Paul another go . I have the book +cd . Tried it a while ago + it worked but I'm fairly easily distracted . Lost 7 lbs doing low carbs but have put it back on over a few months on hols etc . Now I'm eating a bit unhealthily + feeling bloated + uncomfortable in clothes . I know I'm overeating but finding it hard to stop . Off to look for cd + book now . Thanks ,and hope things look up for you all soon.

Claire hope your gran recovers soon. Hospital sandwiches might not be the healthiest of food but at the time they were the right thing for you; and Scrapaholic let me paraphrase one of McKenna's sayings: 'it's not like a diet, there are no fixed rules, if you fall of the bandwagon - for whatever reason - you can always start again.'
  • I wish I didn't fall off the bandwagon so easily ! I know all the right things to eat etc and that it's not a diet as such . Have had a good day today and planning to keep at it . Feel so much better when eating properly . Really dislike the tightness of clothes that used to be loose .
  • I'm thinking of giving PM another go to. I did well last time but I do remember that you need to seriously concentrate on following the rules.... and not just the 'eat what you want' one!!!!

I thought I would throw in m experiences about this. I thought it was a load of hosh posh at first but gave it a listen anyway, took it all in - still thought it was a load of hosh posh..........until I started noticing things about a week later! I wasn't picking or eating until I was about to explode and was pretty much staying away from the food cupboard. I found it very bizarre. I started back on my pig out my face until I felt like puking, listened to the tape again - same results! I have weight watchers and Atkins to thank for the vast majority of my weight loss but this tape really helped even the biggest cynic!

I saw this thread and as much as I HATE Paul McKenna (comes across sleezier than a Used Cars salesmen) I do think there's some method in his madness. Fixing your weight is about identifying why you're fat and fixing the "mental issues" around it.

My own weight issues were caused by comfort eating, boredom, stress and to keep my energy levels high. Red Bull/Kitkats to keep my concentration high at work. I actually found low carbs took care of the energy levels (and giving up caffeine helped with both the energy levels and stress).

But I'm not convinced a tape or book would help. Friend used some online support service at https://www.health-success.co.uk

I lost 64lb using this system, it has stayed off and transformed my eating habits. You have to stick to the rules but they became second nature very quickly.
