another that's not read the whole thread, i never knew so many were interested in this (over the years).
had a very unhealthy relationship with food from an early age, probably about 6 years old, so struggled with my weight for nearly 40 years now. managed to lose 2 stone, then put 3 back on - a pattern i'm sure many are familiar with!
tried weightwatchers a long time ago & had success for about 6 months then gave up. about 13 years ago i managed to lose 6 stone over a period of 18 months, however, i still felt the same when i looked in the mirror & didn't like what i saw. head & body were in very different places & it took a few years therapy (started for other reasons) to get me to a 'better' place.
i started using the hypnosis part from the Mckenna plan about 18 months ago, & i'm now just 2lb away from a 5 stone loss. very chuffed with myself & feel like i've made some real life changes. food i'd wolf down previously (full of fat, calories & hard to digest) literally turns my stomach these days & i really do want to eat fresh & healthy. i probably only listen to the recording once a month or so just to keep me on track, but weirdly, i can hear his voice in the background on many occasions - "stop eating when you're full, enjoy & taste your food, if you're not enjoying it, stop. you think you're hungry, what do you really want", he's a real little chatterbox!
so, it can work, but it's not a 'miracle'. i really believe you've got to be in the right frame of mind to tackle your issues, especially if you've got a lot of weight to lose.

Have to admit i watched his sky programme years ago and found it interesting ... I tried it for a while but found it so easy to slip back ... Maybe i need to make more effort ... Combine paul mckenna with the low carb or something
Thanks spammy for resurecting the thread ... I missed it first time around0 -

Useful reminder to me to re-read the book - it is a quick read - and stick the CD on.
I started my day with 2 chocolate biscuits so maybe I do need to be a bit more mindful :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

Hope is not a strategy...A child is for life, not just 18 years....Don't get me started on the NHS, because you won't win...I love chaz-ing!

I dislike this. This is a man saying 'he can make you thin' and selling his book etc on the back of that statement.
Of course he can't make you thin! How can someone you haven't met, no matter how persuasively he argues in his book, 'make' you thin? It's a catchy title, and no doubt that's how he's making a good living out of selling this, but no one else can 'make' you thin. No one except yourself.
Someone wrote above 'my problem is that I pig out in the evenings, can't stop putting food into my mouth'. Well, you've identified the problem, then! You don't need someone like a TV personality (is that what he is?) to tell you. The first step to solving any problem is to identify what that problem is, and I can tell you that for free. The next step is to identify what factors are getting in the way of your solving the problem. The easiest way is to sit down with a pencil and paper and no distractions like TV etc, and just write it down honestly. This is free advice from a graduate in Behavioural Sciences. I haven't produced a book, a CD set or anything else, but I have a fair bit of experience of human beings. How's that for a bargain?Ær ic wisdom funde, ær wearð ic eald.

That looks like the CBT approach. Paul mckenna is trying the hypnosis approach which would work far better as it works on the other than conscious mind. the only snag is that with a CD and book you have no way of checking your work with a client. A few people respond to CDs but its the same every time. So yes you are right in part that he is a master of marketing and his book and CD are not likely to work in anything more than about 1/3rd of his customers.
Seeing a good hypnotherapist will inevitably cost a lot more but the results will also be far far better.Who I am is not important. What I do is.0 -
I have now read most of the thread, canceled my amazon order i made yesterday and reordered it again this morning and paid for postage to get in Monday. i feel so motivated by this thread, I do hope it gets running again as not much has happened in the last year on it.
I think the new amazon package also has the journal on it.
Please come back to this thread and help me on my way.0 -
I appreciate what margaretclare is saying. And, in a sense she is right. I know quite well that if I eat 3000 calories per day and only use up 2,500 then I will put on weight, and if I keep that up for any length of time I'll end up getting fat! If I drop my calorie intake to 2,500 a day and increase my exercise regime then I'll start to loose weight.
Now where 'Slimming World,' 'Atkings,' 'Weight Watchers,' and 'Paul McKenna' come in they help the individual to focus.
I can honestly say that I've lost a little over two stone following McKenna's program, I've dropped from a man's size 40 to a 36 and I haven't given up any of the food and drink that I enjoy. I want to loose another 10 lb and I am finding that hard, but I don't think I could have done it without encouragement and for me that encouragement came via Paul McKenna.
And of course margaretclare is right Paul McKenna, or anyone else for that matter can't 'make you thin,' but come on margaretclare it is a book title and it is there to sell a product we all know that.
Let me put a question to you. The Paul McKenna 'I can make you thin book,' costs £10.49 from Amazon. If a punter like myself buys it and ends up shedding two stone, is that not an achievement? I've paid McKenna to incentivize me and that is what he has done so is that not worth paying money for? Of course there are people who will buy the book read it once and it will sit in the corner gathering dust and guess what they will not loose weight.
Now I don't think McKenna will suit everybody, one size doesn't fit all, but if people need help then they have to be prepared to put their hand in their pocket. I would encourage people trying to loose weight to think about McKenna's approach - borrow the book from the local library read it and see what you think.0 -
I too am well aware that the basics are eat less (or more of the right choices) and exercise more. i struggle for motivation and that is why I think it will help me.
Reading this thread there is one line that is so simple but I had never actually heard it before, "eat when you feel hungry". As daft as it sounds I have never just tried this approach.0
