Hi all, I'm up for joining in on this too if you don't mind!

I've had the audio cd on my mp3 player for a while, but dug it out last night and gave it a listen, and have eaten loads less today already!

So I've ordered the book today and will give it a good read when it arrives.

Already I feel totally in tune with whether I'm hungry and when I've had enough. I have high hope for this as I'm the queen of healthy eating, but I just eat too much of it normally!!

    Will keep you posted...

Good luck Bluebelle, let us know how you get on. I had a pretty good night last night, except for eating one chocolate that I did not need (I was peckish but could have gone without) not going to beat myself up for that though. Here's to another PMK style day.

    xx
  • Hello, I'm not sure if I'm joining this too late as the last post was in May! However, having read dozens and dozens of posts, I'm inspired! I bought the ICMYT book a couple of years ago and, I'm ashamed to admit, put it into storage before getting past page 2! However, I'm going to dig it out of storage tomorrow and get started. I don't have any deep seated anxieties that I'm aware of - I simply enjoy nice food and good wine. I'm hoping that the book will let me enjoy food even more while just eating less of it and not having to polish off everything on my plate! I recently got divorced and one of the big issues was that my husband was absolutely horrid to me when I put on weight after we got married. Fortunately I have wonderful friends and family so, despite his best efforts, he didn't manage to destroy my self esteem entirely. I now want to lose weight for me and not because I'm being bullied and belittled into doing it. Target weight loss 3 stone - starting today!

  • Hi there

I too found this thread a few months ago and posted once or twice. I then went my merry way.

I can say, without a shadow of a doubt, that Paul McKenna knows his stuff. I've been following his principles since mid-January and I have lost 35 lbs. Am quite chuffed but I'm not where I need to be. These past few weeks I've rebelled a bit so I need to get the disk out and the book out and refresh myself.

My hugest hope for me is that I cure myself of my dysfunctional relationship with food. I kind of thought I had and was getting quite cocky about it. Last night (as I ate cheese & onion crisps in bed at 10.30pm) I decided today Sunday is my new phase. I'm looking out all the tools I need in the hope of galvanising my resolve.

Go me.................................... and good luck to you

    Hello

I don't know what Paul McKenna's principles are, but it is certain that weight control starts in the mind. If it's a form of re-programming of the way you think about food, then it will work.

We're all 'programmed' and conditioned to eat in a certain way, from early childhood, long before we know anything or can remember anything. The idea of 'treats' is very prevalent in today's world. 'You've got to have a treat' is something I hear all around me. What people regard as 'treats' will depend on themselves, on their background and upbringing, but commonly it's something sweet, something fatty, or something alcoholic. None of which is conducive to weight control. What's the reason why you've put on unwanted weight? Is it what you eat normally, were you taught to 'clean your plate' at every meal, were you given sweets every time you fell over and scraped your knee?

So many people say they want to lose weight, but often for short-term goals - a holiday, to get into a particular dress for a special occasion - but once they return to normality they can't keep it up. It's worth sitting down with pencil and paper and working out WHY you want/need to lose weight, the steps you need to take, what you're prepared to give up in the short term for a long-term goal, and how you think your life will be different once you get to that goal.

Me, I'm doing the Dukan Diet and I get daily support and encouragement from the site. Motivation is all-important. No one ever achieved anything in any field whatever unless they wanted it more than anything and were prepared to put enjoyment, 'treats' etc, out of the way until the goal is achieved. Even more important, what will you have to give up permanently, to avoid putting that weight back on, which is so common? Are you prepared to do without e.g. a glass of wine every night, a sweet cake, some chocolate? Think about it.

  • Hi all,

I started PMK today as I am sick and tired of going on yet another diet. Really hoping this will work. I have read the book but will start the CD's tonight. So far I have realised that I am completely out of touch with how my body really feels. I couldn't recognise hunger until I was starving and had no idea when I was full. After just three mouthfuls I felt a change in the stomach area but surely this wasn't the time to stop???

Anyway, I'm really determined to go for it. I'm out to my weekly zumba class tonight but might actually put in some effort for once! Also interested to see if this will give me the motivation to get my !!!! back to the gym :)

I hope that you are all still doing well.

  • I'm so annoyed with myself. It's only day two and I have completely ignored the rules today. Had a really crappy day at work and haven't stopped eating all day.

    Grr!
  • Decided not to give up before I've hardly started. Got out the success journal and started to complete it with today as Day 1.
Bacon sarnie for breakie - left some.
Soup and bread for lunch - left some.
    Cereal bar mid afternoon.
Dinner was jam sandwich coz I didn't feel like eating a full meal.
Still satisfied now so plans to eat all more.

Just out of interest I put my days food into a calorie counter and it came to 1200! Just thought it was interesting that without thinking about it I have needed such few calorie but when on my last diet I struggled every day to stick to 1600.

  • Actually, that's the one bit I'm hoping to keep..... and usually is the first bit to go making me look even more ridiculous!

Day 2 today and feeling really positive. Listened to the CD last night and feel asleep half way through :). This morning I had a strong desire to go the gym - I even walked there which has never happened before!

So far only eaten an apple but starting to get hungry now so I'm off to see what I really want to eat!
