  • You've all inspired me. I'm 3 days back into it now after posting on here the other day!
  • Thanks Bitsy Beans, you're right, it'll take time to adjust to the new lifestyle change:(
I seem to in a bad place at the moment, with noone to blame but myself. Had a stressful morning, twins had their swine flu jabs, we went (with my mum) to a cafe to have some late brekkie, I ate quickly but left quite a bit, picked on fries, should have eaten slower, was very full.

Came home, started cooking for dh and picked on chocs and then it went mad, its as if my brain keeps telling me to stuff myself with everything in case I wont be able to from tomorrow, as if its all gonna finish so I need to eat what I can, just stuffing my face, feel so bad:cry:

Im not thinking I should cambridge again to lose some and go back to PMK, trouble is I hate cambridge now, I just dont want to but feel as though Ive been left no choice, need to be slimmer for holiday in 6 weeks!

Anyone got some advice and a kick up the backside?

:mad:Im such a pig! (forgot to listen to cd last night, could it be that? not even close to totm yet!)

Ps. Happy belated birthday Larmy, hope everyone is doing loaaaaaaads better than me:o
  • Reena

Listen to the CD - I'm convinced it helps me. Some people prefer to listen to it first thing in the morning but I find it suits me to listen to it in bed before I go to sleep.

Listen to the CD tonight and start afresh tomorrow. I used to be in the same mindset as you - eat all the good stuff because tomorrow you won't be able to. You can eat the good stuff and that's the beauty of this programme. You must read up on Paul's aversion therapy techniques to help you with any cravings you have.

Oh, and here's a swift kick up the backside to keep you motivated too!!

Sounds as though your stressful day led you to stuff back the stressful feelings with food.
You are not a pig. Repeat after me "I am NOT a pig. I will be kind to myself and treat myself with the respect I deserve". Your worth is not determined by how much you weigh - lets face it even if you were slimmer your morning the other day would still have been stressful xx

Honestly I can understand the desire to lose weight for your holiday but is it the be all and end all of your life if you didn't?
there are no quick fixes with weightloss (well none that don't ensure obsession, torture and deprivation and even then it's only a short term gain).
Take a deep breath, re-read his book and see if you get at least try and follow one rule. I find it hard to change so many things in one go, eating slower, drinking more water etc. It feels so overwhelming at times and yet I am not happy where I am. I've been posting on this thread for a loooooong time and yet I am not really any further forward so know exactly where you are coming from. But deep down I know this can work for me I just have to make the effort to listen to my body.

Thanks all for your birthday wishes. I had a lovely time and a great meal at my sisters.

I have to go out for another meal tomorrow night and I must confess this is where I do struggle to not eat everything, especially dessert. I think this is because I have the view that as I have paid for it and it's a treat, then I must eat everything!!!

Not doing too badly apart from that. I do also find it difficult to drop the diet mentality - after all it's what I have been doing nearly all my life. Either that or feeling really bad about myself. So there is plenty of work to be done.

I quit smoking last year, so I can surely do this too!:)

    Have a good week all.

  • Unfortunately, I think most of us here have been conditioned to the "waste not want not" mentality. It is also very difficult to get out of the "diet habits" after so many years.

I know I still struggle at times but try to remain positive and continue to re-programme the way I think about food.

I did jump on the scales this morning as my husband put them back in the bathroom after I had removed them and I couldn't help myself! I have lost a pound in the last two weeks but considering I have had several birthday celebrations including my own, been out for several meals, and been away for the weekend I am incredibly pleased with myself. If I was on an ordinary diet plan I can guarantee I would have put on weight in the same period of time.

larmy, well done for quitting smoking. That's something I need to tackle. It's neverending!
  • Thanks goldengirl and Bitsy:)
Well done for that 1 pound loss GG, thats brilliant! :T
I should be kinder to myslf Bitsy, you're absolutely right, need to change the way I think about myself, Im not a failure, I need to believe it. Have started again tomorrow, well carried on really, feel ok, sometimes after brekkie or a meal I feel hungry soon after, sort of an empty feeling in my throat, cant explain, I dunno if thats hunger, Im so not used to tuning into my body.
However, I definately eat less than I would on a full on binge, Im either bingeing or starving, so anywhere in between has to be good!

Hope everyone has a brill day!:D

What happens to this feeling if you have a drink? I don't mean water, I find even if I drink more coffee/tea during the day I eat slightly less. Do you feel a particular craving or just a feeling like you need food?

Its funny you asked that, have had that feeling most of today, dont crave anything, just feel like I need food I think, but when I drink water it goes away, maybe its thirst.
Although I havent had as many teas and coffees I normally have when Im on a 'diet' so maybe I should up the liquid intake, just hate drinking water!
Been a good day, gonna do my wiifit, started calorie counting again though:o Need to stop, and also I was nice to myself for a change:)
    How's everyone else?

I went to see a hypnotist last year and he explained to me that we have to work on not feeling bad about ourselves - it is the feeling bad that leaves us wanting to relieve feeling with eating, smoking, booze or whatever you struggle with.

He also said it was better to focus on eliminating the fat on our bodies rather than weight itself. It's true when you think of it really. Would you rather feel good about how you see yourself or weigh less? food for thought really. X

Just got back from my meal out. I did eat a fair bit but not stuffed and yet a couple of minutes ago I had an urge to go eat a kit kat out of the fridge and I am not remotely hungry!! Good job I saw the thread and decided to catch up!
