  • Well done Ging. At one stage I was a size 28 so know what you mean about shopping for clothes!

I dropped down to a size 12 when I split up and divorced my first husband about 13 years ago and that size suited me fine. I met Mr Right 12 years ago and since then started the endless cycle of putting on and losing weight. I have yo-yo dieted for the last decade managing at one stage to get down to a 14 with Slimming World.

I really enjoy aqua and used to go on a Saturday morning when I was a member of the gym. Like you, I was one of the youngest there but the class was actually quite tough.

    Keep up the good work!
  • Hi guys

Oh dear, it's my birthday today and I bought Krispy Kreme donuts for my colleagues at work. I couldn't resist my favourite chocolate iced custard filled one and although I closed my eyes and ate it consciously (it was delicious), there wasn't a crumb left on my plate!

Oh well, back on the programme tomorrow.
  • I used to go to aqua too and loved it. Well done Ging - sounds like you're doing great.

goldengirl - I have no idea how much I've lost as I don't weigh myself. I get really obsessed with counting things - be they lbs or calories - so PMK really suits me. I have no scales in the house and just go by the fit of my clothes. I've been every size between 8 and 16 over the past 11 years, but PMK is the only 'regime' I feel is sustainable.

Cooking a single portions is a good idea, but I like to batch cook as I think that saves more money and time. I try and put extra portions in the freezer straight away though.
  • :jYaaay! Sorry, jumping around like a lunatic cos I found this thread on this forum, did a search for ICMYT by Paul Mckenna, was looking for a support forum for it or something. Read through AAAAAALL the pages, well most, its fab to learn so much bout it and read how successful its been for so many of you:D

Oops, forgot to introduce myself, Im Reena, from Southeast London, have 3 toddlers under 3 (dont ask, twins and one older), housewife at the moment but used to teach fulltime.
Ive battled with weight issues forever, constant bingeing for every negative emotion and during happy times, very low self esteem, mostly down to family:(

Anyway, after having my twin daughters I was in constant unbearable pain, turns out it was gallbladder stones, had that out but realised I needed to change my weight for my kid's sake at least, lost 4st with Cambridge diet last year, had a 'break', didnt put on but have been yoyo-ing since, feel guilty, bingeing, starving, have maintained that weight but obviously not the right way, I have roughly a stone and a half to go that I want off, starting off at 16.5st, now about 12st9lbs.

Reaaaally cant do CD (cambridge diet) anymore, I try to stick to it, few days later Im bingeing, feel sick and naseous, not to mention cranky!
Need a long term solution, my mate gave me the PMK book and cd, have bought the 90 day success journal too, but a little skeptical. So used to seeing results fast and scale hopping EVERYDAY, need to calm it down and get out of that way of thinking as its making me miserable.
Really worried it wont work for me as my metabolism is completely shot! So would really appreciate your support and guidance, just bear with my annoying questions please, or ignore me if I get too whiny!
    Thankyou!:o

Reena what a great post. I am just like you - a yo yo dieter. I have just been trying to incorporate the Slim Fast shakes into my eating plan but two weeks in am feeling utterly terrible. Headaches, wind, indegestion etc. So I am going to have to try plan C! I bought the 90 day journal book on Saturday so will be starting properly tomorrow with PM.

I will accompany you too. By the way I chucked my scales out. Too depressing but addictive. :)

PS I worry too that my metabolism has packed up!

Thanks hon:p I know what you mean about the shakes, Ive got cd shakes, bars and cant stand them now, make me feel terrible, migraines, you name it! Still feel guilty for eating each time though:embarasse

I was gonna start the journal but have a major family holiday in April, have to get through that and wanna start when Im back, but will be doing the plan from tomorrow anyway if that makes sense:p

You are sooooo brave for chucking those scales! I have tried putting them away but always know where they are so keep using them, will chuck em out too I think.

I reaaaally hope we havent completely killed our metabolisms or something, lol, has anyone else been on lighterlife, cambridge or slimfast type liquid diets and have had success with PMK even after being on them? Would help loads!

Good luck tomorrow larmy16, lets check in tomorrow to see how's it going?:)
  • So pleased I have found a thread for this, I started yesterday. I'm 20 stone so I can honestly say I feel lighter already!!! just from not being bogged down with food. I can see it working as long as I work it. I refuse to get weighed for two weeks otherwise I would be on there evry 20 mins.

It's such a simple concept but one that I have never been introduced to in all my yo-yo years.

Will be keeping an eye on this thread and it's so lovely to read about those of you who are having sucess with this.

Guys, please don't think you're on a hiding to nothing after trying those other diets. Our bodies are wonderfully made, and just give it time.
As far as scales go, I don't have any in the house, and think that's a good idea. I would get a very occasional weigh-in at the doc or if I visit someone who has scales.
Is anyone else relishing feeling hungry in a good way? I have gone for so many, many years either feeling completely bloated through constant grazing, or feeling hungry and having a low-fat horrible yoghurt which doesn't do anything except bring misery when you eat it.
I am enjoying now, actually feeling hungry like a 'normal' person, and going and eating something without guilt.

  • Guys, I am a yo-yo dieter and was worried that my metabolism was shot to hell after so many years of abusing it on all sorts of diets. Although I have weighed myself once on this programme after 17 days, as suggested by Snow White I am going to put the scales away go by how my clothes fit.

I have done Slimfast and Cambridge and neither of them made me feel good at all. I know Cambridge can work for a lot of people with some amazingly quick weight losses but it's the maintenance that's the hardest. Also, I don't think it deals with any "food issues" you may have either.

After trying countless diets, this programme seems to be working without too much effort and I am really enjoying my food these days. I was brainwashed for many years into thinking that certain foods are sinful that I agonised over eating them at all and these foods became my "binge" foods when I had emotionally overate.

I've had a stressful week this week dealing with work and family issues and using the tapping technique I have not succumbed to my cravings for chocolate or crisps.

Also I find that because I am now eating foods that slim people eat, no-one comments that I must be on a diet again and that makes it easier for me too.

Good luck to the newbies Reena, Larmy16 and TubbyFunster. I look foward to seeing how you get on. Have a good weekend guys.
  • Hello ladies (I assume)
    Can I join you?
I am on the lose lbs challenge but haven't been doing well by denying myself - lost around 3lbs since 1st January
I read some stuff on here about PMK last week and ordered the book with the CD through amazon and started on Tuesday.
I'm doing quite well so far, last night was a bit of a downer as I had curry (home made) and although I followed 3 of the rules I didn't follow the main one about conscious eating. I do think I allowed myself to get a bit too hungry on the hunger scale as I was a bit too busy.
Having said that, all apart from breakfast it was all I had yesterday - a sort of late lunch/early supper. I still haven't eaten anything today as I am still only around 4-5 on the hunger scale.
I also considered the number of calories in the curry (and wine) and it was less than 1500 which is my BMR so I wouldn't have gained anything
I'm looking forward to a nice thik slice of home made wholemeal bread when I finally hit a 3-4.
I've been going to Weightwatchers and all the other clubs on and off since 1979, I must have spent hundreds of ££££'s lost hundreds of lbs and put them all back on again. I am about half a stone above the original 1979 starting weight so I know they don't work in the long term.
I have read through the whole thread and I am a bit worried that some of the earlier posters disappeared into the ether is there anyone out there who has completley succeeded and got down to a comfortable size? (won't say weight).
I'm just wondering if it's hard to get out of diet/self punishment mindset and when people perhaps only lose 1-2 lbs over a 15 day period (or don't lose anythng at all) they give up.
Can any of the early posters give their feedback to give an idea of the pitfalls
I was weighing myself 1-2 times daily when the scales were in the bathroom so I put them in a drawer downstairs but I do like the idea of leaving them at work.
I'll keep an eye on you all and look forward to your progress
