Finances done. Bills paid, money shuffled about. Also finally switched electricity provider and bought some work trousers on line from M&S so have £21.91 tracking in Quidco :D

I've two washing loads out on the line blowing in the wind. Trouble is, it's clouding over. I do hope it's not going to rain!

I will now clear the hotspot which is the kitchen table...

greenbee - that was a mean, scary thread!!!! there is a very good reason that I dont venture from from the OS boards lol

ETA - but I managed to find an unthanked post from Hawthorn ;)

Don't go over to Gas & Elec then :rotfl:

I know Dusty tries to be very green (she shops on a lot of the same sites as me!), and soappie is encouraging us all to shop locally and avoid supermarkets.

The ethical consumer website might be of interest, an possibly the ecologist as well. I'm involved at work with changing behaviours in relation to the environment (specifically paper usage, energy usage, waste management) and am responsible for the disposal of IT-related WEEE, so feel free to PM me if you think I might be able to help.

The British Library have an interesting talk on Wednesday (Can we save the planet and keep our freedoms) http://www.bl.uk/onlinegallery/whatson/events/january.html which may be available as a podcast afterwards. I'd like to go... but haven't booked yet, and am not keen on the whole getting the train into town & coming back late thing at the moment!

JennyBee...depends! I like Motherease stuff, especially the wraps. Depends on whether your child is a heavy wetter or not.

Well done! I wonder whether toots has got round to doing anything about this yet?!

Have dealt with the chicken & eaten lunch. Set of DW, closed windows and put heating back on  but not refilled the shampoo etc as I can't find my funnels anywhere... and I have two sets, plastic & metal, so they have to be around somewhere.

Maybe once I've done this presentation I'll have another look!

Thank you Orkneystar, thats very helpful. Interesting, one of my friends who is very well off, choose them purely on environmental reasons. I think when she bought them, they had just come out, so were quite expensive? :D
Some types can be, alhough the ones that are more expensive per nappy are often longer lasting (in other words adaptable to fit birth to potty).
www.babykind.co.uk has a huge range of real nappies, if you want to take a look to get an idea on prices/ranges etc. It can be a vey expensive business if you want it to be, equally it can be cheap if you want it to be!

I used reusables with my second child (didn't think about it first time) but haven't so much this time as DD2 gets very sore very quickly :( Although when it gets to spring and I'm not using the fires I'll probably go back to them. At the moment we put all the used nappies in the fire.
    And they don't smell ?
    JennyBee wrote: »
Out of personal interest...those who use reusable nappies are there any brands that you would either recommend (or not!)?

It's something that both OH and I want to do when the frugal teeny arrives (due date 1 week!!) but we don't know many people that use them so haven't managed many personal recommendations!
I love tots bots cotton bots and also flexi tots, they come in 2 sizes, although you can use size 2 folded down form fairly wee to potty size but thats just me. I would recommend the babykind website (see above) as they have great pros and cons of each (do you need higher absorbancy, fast dying, birth to potty or more than 1 size, organic, synthetic vs natural materials etc etc).
