***hangs head in shame***
no torch no whistle route from a magazine (no map)
I couldn't read it (no glasses) but I was wearing hiking boots, hat, scarf gloves...
as we came to the last field I could see a street light and diverted off the route (cos it was too dark to read the route anyway)
and all I told the kids was I was going hiking in Matlock -
and my mobile phone was at home (in my pegbag:rotfl:)
I told her next time we take a torch a whistle etc....
DO NOT copy me!
we did have restorative snacks, hot and cold drinks...
torch, whistle, silver blankets, map
can you tell i work for a large walking organisation!!?
glad you had a great time.
ETA: signing out for tonight (unless i pop back on later). Have a lovely evening allMum to gorgeous baby boy born Sept 2010:j0 -
Just made and had a sizzling beef stir fry which I really enjoyed. Dishes washed and sink shiny.
ThereCanOnlyBe One Welcome to the thread.
ZLS1984 Hugs for you and DD. It must be very scary for you both when that happens.
Flower Congratulations on the medal.
pigpen What you did was spot on. It beggars belief that they can come to someones elses house and think they can do what they like.
Mudbath You will never think of light sabers in the same way again.
Jennybee Your tale of the omelette pan made me laugh so much.
Kassey Big hugs for your DS.
lil_me Big hugs Im thinking of you.
Valli Looks like you have had a lovely hike. I love hiking and have walked most of Northumberland and the Lake District. Not so much now since I broke my ankle and damaged my knees. I always felt that being out in the countryside and the hills was food for the soul.0 -

It is such a stoopid thing to do!:o
So I have just gone cold turkey!
And it was costing me at least £30 a week!:o
And I have also given up having a glass or 2 of wine a night, because once a bottle was open, it was going to be finished!!!!:o So thats another £20 a week!
So all in all I hope to save at least £50 A WEEK from giving up those nasty habits!:T:A:D:j
Well done you for going cold turkey.:T :T :T My hubby done the same in september, we hadn't noticed any money saved from quitting over christmas but this week we see a difference.Sometimes it seems that the going is just too rough. And things go wrong no matter what I do.Now and then it seems that life is just too much. But you've got the love I need to see me through.:j :j0 -

I always felt that being out in the countryside and the hills was food for the soul.
It certainly is. When I lived in Wales, there was a high point about 15 minutes walk (and climb!) from my front door. If I was down, I'd walk up there and just sit. There was never anyone else about. I could look out across the sea, the inland mountains etc. for miles. It would give me back perspective and make me realise my problems were really insignificant in the grand scheme of things.
I miss those uncluttered, thinking encouraging high points here on the south coast. Any hint of a bump here and the world and it's wife is there too.I am the leading lady in the movie of my life

toots - i sometimes wonder if i need a new job but this one has fixed funding and therefore a fixed contract (3 more years though we'll probably move away before then) which at the moment is an important thing. I also think it's more about me than the job - i let things stress me, esp the boss and the journey!
but if they do stress you then they are not good for your wellbeing - physical or mental - the old cliches of 'there's more to life than work' and 'we work to live not live to work' are very true - you need to seriously think about your working life honey.
