Flylady - I think it's just about balance really isn't it. I'm only as extreme as I am with the SD's because I know that it's the complete opposite when they're at home. And I suppose realistically I'm not that extreme (I hope!) but they're here for such a short time, that I'd like me and OH to have some positive influence on them and prove that it doesn't just have to be one way.
I agree that kids have too much nowadays....if we wanted something when we were kids we either had to wait or save up for it ourselves. And that didn't apply to a lot of electronic stuff. I'm only 27 and the first mobile phone I got was when I passed my driving test when I was 17 because we live in the middle of nowhere. We didn't have a lot of things that we didn't need and I don't think I missed out because of it. If anything it made me think about it a bit more. I could really want something so much it made me cry if I didn't get it, but then 5 minutes later I'd have forgotten about it and got on with something else. Think of the money that would have been wasted if my parents had given in to my every whim! I'd have way more stuff to chuck out now!
DOn't worry about ranting and in summary (in case I've waffled too much!) I agree with you!

pigpen why on earth are you banned from freecycle?!?!?!
Becuse I quoted chapter and verse at them re a data protection issue and also the freedom of speech and discrimination against some members who are not afraid to voice their opinions and apparently I should ahve been a communist because I think all members should be treated equally..LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -

well I didn't get to catch up during the phone conf as we had to see an online presentation too. I did manage to send a couple of emails though
I've hit my early evening slump now - thought it was linked to travelling but obviously not as i've been here today! The plan for this evening after dinner is a chilled evening with DH.
I still have stuff on my list which I'll mostly do tomorrow as DH will be studying - want it all done tomorrow as it's my birthday on sunday. Do need to get our bed remade tonight though (sooner rather than later or we'll regret it at bedtime!) I will update my list when i can find it!
ETA: our pc desk is not at all cluttered...:A Mainly cos it's DH's domain and we're actually both pretty tidy (I can't stand mess it really stresses me!)Mum to gorgeous baby boy born Sept 2010:j0 -
